Chris Waller announced today his resignation as UCLA head coach in order to pursue other professional opportunities, effective immediately. His resignation comes on the heels of a season filled with turmoil within the program, including allegations of his mishandling of racism within the team, culminating in freshman Alexis Jeffrey’s transfer to LSU and outcry on social media. Senior Margzetta Frazier first called for Waller’s removal on Amanda Seales’ podcast on Jan. 26.
Waller was in his third season as head coach after taking over for longtime leader Valorie Kondos Field in 2020.
A national search for his replacement will begin immediately. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
