Ryan Roberts will take over as head coach of the Auburn gymnastics program, the school announced Tuesday morning. This comes after the university mutually agreed to part ways with former Auburn head coach Jeff Graba after 16 seasons on April 6.
Roberts spent the past two seasons as co-head coach at Georgia alongside Cecile Canqueteau-Landi. The two led the GymDogs to a No. 6 final ranking this season, the team’s best finish since 2016. Georgia also saw its first regular season 198 since 2009 and its best SEC championship result since 2019. Roberts also served as an assistant coach under former Georgia head coach Courtney Kupets-Carter for two years.
Prior to his time at Georgia, Roberts spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Alabama, where he helped the Crimson Tide to an SEC championship title and a No. 5 final ranking in 2021. He was previously a club coach at WOGA in Frisco, Texas.
“With his demonstrated excellence in recruiting and developing high-level SEC gymnasts, Ryan Roberts is the ideal person to lead Auburn’s gymnastics program,” said Auburn athletics director John Cohen.
Auburn finished the 2026 season at No. 25 after being eliminated in the regional semifinal. The team also finished last at the SEC championship. Historically, the team has made multiple trips to nationals, including a program-best No. 4 finish in 2022.
