Recruiting Roundup: March 2021

Welcome to your monthly recruiting news. Take a look at all NCAA commits, top club meet results and training updates for the past month in college gymnastics recruiting. Additionally, check out how this month’s commits changed their teams’ class rankings.

Team Class Ranking Tracer

In the class of 2022, UCLA jumped from No. 7 to No. 3 thanks to its recruitment of 5-star gymnast Selena Harris. Alabama, however, defended its No. 2 ranking after 3-star recruit Zoe Gravier switched her commitment from UCLA to the Crimson Tide. Southern Utah also moved up the rankings from No. 15 to No. 12 after the recruitment of former elite and former Utah commit Trista Goodman. The rankings of the class of 2021 remained unchanged. 

Committed Tracker

  • Northern Illinois signee Alana Anderson is training a double front dismount off bars.
  • Utah State signee Kielyn McCright competed for the first time in the all around in two years at the Tim Rand Invitational.
  • Washington signee Leah Smith is training a double-twisting Yurchenko on vault.
  • Southern Connecticut commit Ciara Rios is training a double Arabian dismount off bars.
  • Utah commit Makenna Smith is playing around with a double double dismount off bars.

Uncommitted Watcher

  • Morgan Hood, in the class of 2022, competes a difficult double front off bars and a side aerial to 1.5 twist off beam.
  • Olivia Rickle, in the class of 2022, is training a piked Jaeger on bars.
  • Kaylin Hamilton, in the class of 2022, is training a blind full to Gienger on bars.
  • Kailee Adomaites, in the class of 2022, is training a triple twist on floor.
  • Haruna Tamaki, in the class of 2022, is training a full-twisting double layout off bars.
  • Alyssa Kramer, in the class of 2023, is training a double front somersault on floor and some interesting combinations on beam: a switch leap to LOSO and a front toss to back tuck.
  • Mia Giordano, in the class of 2022, is documenting her rehabilitation process on Instagram after having surgery to repair her ACL and her meniscus last month.
  • Seria Johnson, in the class of 2022, is training a double Arabian on floor and a Yurchenko 1.5 on vault.
  • Becca Harper, in the class of 2023, is training a front layout to Rudi on floor.
  • Sophia Pratt, in the class of 2023, is training a front 1.5 twist off bars.
  • Logan Mancini, in the class of 2024, is training a double turn to beat jump on beam.
  • Anna Flynn Cashion, in the class of 2024, competes a difficult bar routine, which includes a beautifully straight Gienger and a double Arabian dismount.
  • Eleanor Whyly, in the class of 2024, is training a full-twisting double pike on floor.
  • Mia Albert, in the class of 2027, is training a Memmel on beam.

Meet Results

  • Arizona State signee Alex Theodorou scored her second 10.0 on vault of her club career at the Valley of the Sun Challenge, where she also posted a 39.200 all around score, her third 39+ of the season. Kyen Mayhew, in the class of 2023, scored a 10.0 on floor at the same meet for a routine that started with a front double twist to punch pike. She tied for the junior all around title (38.550) with 2024 graduate Avery Neff, who posted a 9.900 on floor.
  • Lily Pederson, in the class of 2024, won the Northern Lights Classic with a 38.650, which included a 9.775 on bars.
  • Missouri signee Jocelyn Moore scored a 10.0 on vault at the Fantasia Classic for her Yurchenko 1.5, as well as a 9.800 on bars and a 9.775 on floor.
  • Towson signee Clara Hong won the Yellow Rose Invitational with a 38.750, which included a 9.975 on floor, a 9.800 on beam and a 9.775 on bars. Kenlie Schaefer won the junior title with the same all around score, which included a 9.800 on floor. Lilly Tubbs, in the class of 2022, posted a 9.875 on beam for a routine that included a beautiful Liukin to full turn.
  • Rutgers signee Elia Aird won the City of Lights Invitational with a 38.875. Boise State commit Alyssa Vulaj was second with a 38.725 and a 9.850 on beam.
  • Kentucky commit Makenzie Wilson posted a 10.0 on vault at the Warrior Classic for a front handspring front pike half.
  • West Virginia commit Anna Leigh scored a 9.800 on bars at the Northern Classic for a beautiful routine that included a piked Jaeger, a Pak salto and a double layout dismount.
  • Illinois State commit Nastia Rudnitskaya stuck her Yurchenko full for a 9.850 at the Salto Invitational.
  • Kentucky commit Bridget Burque posted a 38.925 at the Charity Challenge Cup.
  • Missouri signee Amari Celestine topped the standings at the SoCal meet with a 38.750.
  • Hannah Drielick, in the class of 2022, scored a 9.850 on beam at the Charity Challenge Cup.
  • Cilla Park, in the class of 2023, posted a 9.825 on beam at the Sweet Tea Classic, while 2025 graduate Madelyn Dorbin posted a 9.825 on floor.
  • Florida signee Sloane Blakely topped the standings at the Texas state meet with a 39.200. Morgan Price, in the class of 2023, scored a 39.175, Denver signee Momoko Iwai a 38.850 and Michigan signee Abigael Vides a 38.825. Iwai also posted a 10.0 on bars, and Price and Washington signee Leah Smith a 9.925 on the same event. Kylie Coen, in the class of 2023, posted a 9.900 on floor and LSU commit Bryce Wilson a 9.900 on vault.
  • Charniya Brown, a Bowling Green commit, topped the standings at the Tennessee state meet with a 38.575. Heather Parker, in the class of 2023, scored a 9.900 on floor and Kentucky commit Makenzie Wilson a 9.950 on vault.
  • UCLA commit Alexis Jeffrey posted a 9.950 on bars at the Missouri state meet.
  • UCLA commit Selena Harris and Southern Utah commit Trista Goodman tied for first place at the Nevada state meet with two 38.625. They both posted a 10.0, too, Harris on vault and Goodman on bars. 
  • Ohio State signee Tory Vetter topped the standings at the Ohio state meet with a 38.750. Isabel Stassi, in the class of 2026, scored a 38.600.
  • Alabama signee Jordyn Paradise topped the standings at the Florida state meet with a 39.125. Kentucky commit Bridget Bourque posted a 39.000, Alabama signee Lilly Hudson a 38.925 and Oklahoma signee Moorea Linker a 38.725. Linker also scored a 10.0 on vault.
  • Oklahoma signee Jordan Bowers posted a 38.925 at the Nebraska state meet.
  • Southern Utah signee Ellie Cacciola posted a 9.900 on vault at the Oklahoma state meet.
  • Missouri signee Jocelyn Moore posted a 10.0 on vault at the New Jersey state meet.
  • Kyen Mayhew topped the standings at the Arizona state meet with a 38.675, which included a 9.900 on vault. Arizona signee Alex Theodorou posted a 9.975 on vault and Auburn signee Sara Hubbard a 9.900.
  • Michigan State signee Skyla Schulte was first at the Illinois state meet with a 39.175. Behind her, Minnesota signee Haley Tyson scored a 38.925 and Ohio State signee Kaitlyn Grimes a 39.825.

  • Auburn signee Sunisa Lee is training a Moors.
  • Florida signee Riley McCusker is training a full-twisting double layout.
  • UCLA commit Sydney Barros is training a full-twisting double back dismount off beam.
