LIVE BLOG: No. 27 Maryland, No. 35 Penn, and No. 39 Towson at No. 54 Temple

Welcome to this Thursday quad meet! Today will serve as the first of a two-meet weekend for all but Penn, which is fresh off a bye week and ready to rumble. The Quakers’ last outing culminated in a win at the Ivy Classic, a nice confidence boost and a signal that the seasons’ end is soon approaching. Maryland enters following the Big Ten quad weekend, finishing fourth in its session and next to last overall. The Terps are still working towards consistency on bars and beam, but remain strong on the leg events. Though steady with a mid-20’s ranking, the Terps will need to up the ante on their weaker events to achieve greater success in the postseason.

Towson is still searching for its first 196, looking promising so long as it can hit 24 routinesโ€”something it has yet to accomplish this season. Isabella Minervini continues to be a standout individual for the Tigers, currently ranked first in the EAGL conference for all-around and No. 15 in the NCAA on bars. Her consistent contributions act as an anchor for the Tigers as they chase the postseason edge. Host Temple rounds out the quad. The Owls have had quite the up-and-down season and will be looking for two complete meets this weekend to bolster their NQS.

The meet will be streamed on ESPN+, and scores can be found here.

AFTER TWO: Maryland 98.050, Pennsylvania 97.500, Temple 97.275, Towson 97.200

The Terps set themselves apart on beam with another 49 score, and with their two weakest events out of the way they should be able to pick up more momentum in the second half. Though not its best showing, Towson made up a lot of distance on floor. Over on vault, the Quakers delighted with several sticks or near-sticks on vault. The Owls have been inconsistent on bars this season, but fought through and put up a solid rotation today.

Towson overtook Temple with a balanced vault rotation, whereas Temple successfully erased a fall on beam but a few shakier performances set it back. Katrina Mendez-Abolnik shares the title with Pennsylvania’s Maggie Murphy for vault, while Maddie Komoroski nabs both the beam and floor titles with her standout routines. Towson fought hard from an early setback on beam in order to eke out a 195. Isabella Minervini got the bars win and the took the all-around title for good measure.

Maryland and Temple will face off again this weekend in College Park, and Towson will have some time to refocus as it encounters a double header *next week*. Pennsylvania is the third team of this quad facing a double-header, and stays local for the Pink Invitational on Saturday.
