Nebraska announced Monday that the contract of Heather Brink, who has served as Nebraska’s head coach since 2019, will not be renewed. This announcement follows the Huskers’ exit in the second round of the Baton Rouge regional and a last-place finish at the Big Ten Championships last month.
Prior to her coaching career, Brink won the NCAA all-around title in her senior season as a Nebraska student-athlete. She was an assistant coach for the program beginning in 2011 and took over the head coach position following the retirement of long-time leader Dan Kendig, who led Nebraska to 16 conference titles and 12 Super Six appearances.
In a statement, Nebraska Athletic Director Troy Dannen thanked Brink for “for her service to our women’s gymnastics program and Husker Athletics.” He indicated that the search for her replacement will begin immediately.
