LIVE BLOG: No. 42 Boise State at No. 10 Stanford

Boise State is coming to Northern California for a third straight weekend, and the California trips have treated the Broncos well so far. These last two weeks, Boise State has put up its top two scores of the season and will look to carry that momentum into this meet at Stanford. This is the second meet of the weekend for Boise State so there may be some lineup tweaks or fatigue, so keep an eye out for that. If you haven’t watched Boise State yet this season, keep an eye out for Kristina Shchennikova, specifically on bars.

Similar to Boise State, Stanford is also competing in this meet as its second of the weekend. After competing against California and San Jose State on Friday, Stanford will be looking to have some of its own senior day scoring to help boost its NQS with just conference championships to go. There is still an opportunity for Stanford to move up and get better seeding for regionals. Stanford has seen huge contributions from everyone on the roster to help contribute to this run, but make sure you don’t miss Levi Jung-Ruivivar and Ui Soma on bars.

The meet will be streamed on ACCNX, and scores can be found on Virtius

Rotation 1: Stanford vault, Boise State bars

Jung-Ruivivar (STAN): Sticks the Yfull. 9.85

This is a terrible angle to see any kind of deduction. It is like a sky view of the whole arena.

Buell (BSU): Leg separation on the Maloney before the bail. Hop back on the double layout. The first cast was a little rushed. 9.75

Dugan (STAN): Big step forward and chest down on the full on pike off. Had the distance but not the rotation. 9.7

Ball (BSU): Close catch on the pak out of the Maloney. Good legs together throughout. Small hop forward on the double tuck out of the giant full. 9.775

Gronski (STAN): Small hop back on the Yfull. Good open hips throughout. 9.85

They switched the camera angle! This is better.

Reeves (BSU): Closed hips on the overshoot after the big jaeger. Arches the last handstand on the high bar and took a step back on the double tuck. 9.7

Soma (STAN): Great height on the Yfull and a small hop back. Good open shoulders on the block. 9.875

Werline (BSU): Legs glued on the Maloney and then they came a part on the pak. Short on the cast half. Elbows on the stalder and small bounce on the double tuck. 9.85

Roberts (STAN): Small shift in place on the landing with her feet coming together on that Y1.5. Crossed toes throughout. Great distance on that. 10 on senior night.

Shchennikova (BSU): Clean pak. A little over on the cast half. Small hop back on the toe on front pike half. It skipped the first release. 9.85

Nguyen (STAN): Small hop forward on the Y1.5. More height and distance and had a similar toes crossed as Roberts. 9.9

Hamby (BSU): Short on the first cast. Low Ray with bent elbows at the catch on that, and closed hips on the overshoot out of it. Small hop on the double layout. 9.7

AFTER ONE: Stanford 49.475, Boise State 48.925

Stanford got what it needed that rotation with a couple of key sticks and clean landings overall on the already well executed vaults. Boise State will have been looking for more on bars with that being one of the better events for the Broncos typically. Very hoppy on the landings and some less than ideal releases. It is better that the team score on bars from earlier in the weekend though.

Rotation 2: Boise State vault, Stanford bars

Kho (BSU): The camera didn’t show it but the commentator said it was a Yfull with good form and a hop back. 9.775

Jung-Ruivivar (STAN): Floaty pak. Hit the cast half. Stuck the double tuck out of the stalder. 9.925

Nero (BSU): A little closed hips in that Yfull. A lot of distance and it she landed to the side and hopped back onto the line. 9.75

Sorrento (STAN): Legs glued in the Maloney before the pak. A little past vertical on the cast half. Step back on the double layout dismount. 9.8

Kemp (BSU): Hop forward on the Yhalf. Z little closed shoulder on the block but open hips. 9.8

Robinson (STAN): Super high jaeger and catches it with extended arms. Hit the pak. Good toe point on the FTDT and sticks it. 9.95

Ball (BSU): Feet on the full on pike off. Hop back. Chest down on the landing and got most of the twist around. Landed with one foot outside of the lines. 9.75

Roberts (STAN): Floaty pak. Legs come a part at the ankles in the VL. Step forward on the double layout. 9.8

Krzywanski (BSU): Big step back on that Yfull. Feet and soft knees on that. A little off balance even after the step back. 9.7

Barbosu (STAN): Hit the Shang with a small leg separation on the pak. Falls off on the VL. Sticks the FTDT. 9.375

Delarosa (BSU): Small hop back on the tucked Yfull. Not the most distance on that. Does a good job waiting to tuck her legs. 9.775

Soma (STAN): Floaty Maloney to pak combo. Really holding these casts. Hit the VL. Small step back on the double layout as she tried to hold the stick with an arm wave. 9.825

AFTER TWO: Stanford 98.775, Boise State 97.775

Stanford did not have its best bars rotation, but will be happy to leave that rotation without counting the fall from Barbosu. Boise State had some big vaults in there which was good to see, but the landings weren’t there for the most part which hurts the scores especially with form errors in the vaults. The one point score difference in team scores was to be expected at this point, but both teams are only a little below the target pace at the halfway point.

Rotation 3: Stanford beam, Boise State floor

Dean (STAN): Finished the full turn with leg at horizantal. Solid on the sider aerial loso. Controls the straddle to straddle quarter. Sticks the back 1.5 dismount. 9.9

Shchennikova (BSU): Controls the front layout to Rudi to split jump. Clean twisting form. Great positions on the switch ring to switch half. Tight tuck position on the double tuck and controls the landing. 9.85

Landry (STAN): Clean double wolf. Feet on the bhs loso. Great amplitude on the split jump to split ring. Great scale. Sticks the gainer pike off the end. 9.9

Nero (BSU): Controls the double tuck. Good height on that. Gets the switch ring position but the tour jete half was a little short of rotation. Not the most amplitude on the front layout to Rudi to split jump. The jump stole all the amplitude. 9.85

Robinson (STAN): Good toe point on the bhs loso. Clean switch to split. The split jump had more amplitude. Lean on the side aerial to beat jump. Smooth full turn. Sticks the ro back 1.5 dismount. 9.9

Kemp (BSU): Not the most amplitude on the full in. Controlled it though. Good rotation on the leaps but may have been a bit short of split. Front foot slid back on the front layout to Rudi. 9.8

Williams (STAN): Clean double wolf turn. Great toe point and flow on the front aerial to bhs. Arm wave on the split ring jump. Great positions on the switch to split. Bounding step forward on the back 1.5 dismount. 9.825

Ferguson (BSU): Big step out of the double pike. Looks to stay in bounds. Good amplitude on the leaps. Got the wolf full around. Controlled the front layout to front full. Lands with a low chest and a small hop forward on the double tuck. 9.675

Roberts (STAN): Clean wolf 1.5 turn. Good amplitude on the switch to split. Small foot movement on the bhs loso landing. Good toe point on the side aerial into the split jump. Sticks the bhs gainer full. 9.925

Reeves (BSU): Controls the front double full to punch front. Some leg stagger. Not the best switch ring position in the leap combo the back leg seemed off. Hit the whip half to Rudi. Legs crossed in the Rudi. 9.825

Trinidad (STAN): Lean on the beat jump after the front aerial. Solid bhs loso. Good amplitude on the split jump to split ring. Stuck the gainer pike. 9.9

Pascal (BSU): Feet on the double tuck and controls it. Front leg a little low on the switch ring before the tour jete half. Sticks then steps on the landing of the back 1.5 to front layout. Short of split on the split jump out of the Rudi. 9.925

AFTER THREE: Stanford 148.300, Boise State 147.025

Stanford had a very good beam rotation. All of the routines were performed confidently with minimal balance errors and mostly all stuck landings. Stanford is well positoned heading into floor. Boise State will be happy with that rotation after having a rotation of mostly solid landings and one of the highest marks of the season. The leap postions could be cleaned up, but that rotation puts the Broncos on pace to surpass the 196 mark.

Rotation 4: Boise State beam, Stanford floor

Lucas (BSU): Falls on the loso series. Solid full turn. Feet on the side aerial. No amplitude on the cat leap before the switch side. Small step back on the ro back 1.5 dismount. 9.05

Dean (STAN): Low amplitude on the Rudi, but controlled the landing. Around on the switch full. Controlled the back 1.5 to front full. Off on the leap rotations in the combo. 9.875

Delarosa (BSU): Good amplitude on the loso series. Hit to switch split leap to switch split jump to split jump. Fun combo. Feet on the front aerial. Almost underrotated on that. Hop forward on the bhs tucked 1.5. 9.775

Walker (STAN): Opened a little early on the double pike and hops forward. Short of split on the switch half but great amplitude on the likely intended wolf fulls. The rotations were off in that combo. Slides back on the front throught to double tuck. 9.825

Whipple (BSU): Lean on the bhs loso. Smooth full turn. Feet on the side aerial to two feet but very solid landing. Sticks the gainer full dismount. 9.775

Robinson (STAN): Feet on the double tuch and controls the landing. Falls out of the double Y turn (not actually a fall but steps out of it). Great amplitude on the straddle jump out of the front layout to front half. The straddle position in the leap combo was fantastic. Controls the double pike. 9.825

Nero (BSU): Solid bhs bhs loso. Smlight adjustment on the full turn. Solid front aerial. Legs crossed and a big hop forward on the back 1.5 dismount. 9.75

Nguyen (STAN): Huge double layout and slides the front foot back a little and took a large lunge. Off on the leap rotation but the straddle position was nice. Great height but a little bounce back on the front tuck through to double tuck. 9.85

Shchennikova (BSU): Falls on the bhs bhs loso series. Hit the switch to straddle quarter. Slight step forward on the front aerial. Sticks the gainer full. 9.175

Jung-Ruivivar (STAN): Hit the wolf turn. Controls the whip to double tuck. Feet on that pass. Clean leaps. Sticks the whip half to front full. 9.925

Kho (BSU): Almost was a little under on the front aerial. Hit the bhs back pike. Quick full turn. Lacks amplitude throughout. Short of split on the switch half out of the switch leap. Sticks the gainer full. 9.9

Roberts (STAN): Good toe point on the front tuck through to double point. Looked to over rotate the first leap in the combo and underrotate the second. Controls the front layout to Rudi. Good amplitude on the combo. 10

FINAL:

That second beam fall soured what could have been a very solid team score which will hurt Boise State’s regionals chances. The Broncos were just outside the top 36 going into this meet and will not improve on that ranking. Stanford capatalized on some senior night scoring with its second highest team score of the season. Stanford was already up to seventh going into today and this score will only help solidify that spot in the top eight heading into conference championships weekend.

VT: Roberts 10

UB: Robinson 9.95

BB: Roberts 9.925

FX: Roberts 10

AA: Roberts 39.725
