Most Anticipated Freshmen in the All-Around

The most anticipated series is back! We looked at data and videos for incoming freshmen on each event to see which gymnasts are at the top of their class across the apparatuses and in the all-around. Today we’re wrapping things up by looking at the top all-arounders.

We ranked the top10 level 10s and top five elite gymnasts by considering past scores and performances, but also potential to shine at the NCAA level. In an effort to balance the names across all NCAA programs, we limited each list to two gymnasts per school.

Level 10s

Olivia Ahern, Auburn

Auburn’s top recruit from the class of 2024, Ahern could have a substantial impact on its lineups. The Tigers are entering a rebuilding phase with holes left on all four events from graduating seniors. Though Ahern will likely contribute most on beam and floor, she could also find herself as a solid leadoff for the Tigers on vault. Despite not competing much the last few years, she has looked solid in her recent training videos and looks to be enjoying the transition to college gymnastics.

Kailin Chio, LSU

After retiring from elite gymnastics in 2022, Chio took the club scene by storm. In 2023, her first season returning to level 10 competition, Chio claimed the Nastia Liukin Cup title and placed third at the national championships. Despite only competing in three meets in 2024, she won four of five titles at nationals. Her gymnastics is already college ready, and she could find herself in multiple event lineups for the Tigers as a freshman.

Sophia Diaz, Michigan

Diaz’s early high school graduation will be greatly appreciated by head coach Bev Plocki. Michigan hasn’t looked the same since Natalie Wojcik and Abby Heiskell graduated in 2022, and the void could widen with the loss of Sierra Brooks, Naomi Morrison, and Gabby Wilson after last season. Though Diaz is strong on all four events, her Yurchenko one and a half could make her a regular contributor in the vault lineup.

Rylee Guevara, Ohio State

Guevara is fresh off a second-place finish at the 2024 level 10 national championships behind Oklahoma’s incoming star Elle Mueller. During the 2024 season, Guevara recorded four 39.000 or higher scores in the all-around, three of them coming in the final meets of the season. Her all-around capabilities are highlighted by her strong floor set, where she boasts a career-high 9.950. Her Yurchenko one and a half will also be a welcome addition to the Buckeye’s lineup next season.

Olivia Kelly, Missouri

At the 2024 Region 7 championships, Kelly notched a massive 39.425 in the all-around, the highest regional all-around score in the nation that year. The two-time world championships competitor for Barbados cracked under the pressure at nationals in 2024, placing 44th in the all-around after a nervy bar routine. If she wants to break into the all-around as a freshman at Missouri, Kelly will need to compete her routines to her ability.

Kylee Kvamme, Alabama

Another level 10 with world championships experience, Kvamme could be a star on all four events at Alabama. Despite not competing at nationals in 2024, Kvamme notched the regional title on vault, floor, and in the all-around earlier in the season. Her Yurchenko one and a half could find itself in many programs’ lineups, but her talent doesn’t end there, making Kvamme a freshman to look out for in Tuscaloosa.

Macy McGowan, UCLA

McGowan has shown incredible improvement throughout the last three seasons. Though she’s switched gyms twice in as many years, McGowan hasn’t let that get in the way of her results— she won the national titles on vault, floor, and in the all-around in 2024. Though she’s found her groove on all four events, her Yurchenko one and a half is a highlight. Her bright personality will fit right into UCLA’s expressive dynamic and can fill holes left by Selena Harris.

Elle Mueller, Oklahoma

After retiring from elite competition, it took Mueller a bit of time to truly reach her potential.  While she had a good 2023 season, it was 2024 where she really hit her stride, winning the all-around titles at the Nastia Liukin Cup and national championships. Her improvements were noticed and resulted in a much-deserved five-star rating following the 2024 season.

Avery Neff, Utah

Arguably the most anticipated freshman from the class of 2024, Neff is expected to be an absolute star at Utah. She won the national all-around title in 2021 and 2023 and was the runner-up in 2022 and 2024. Last season, she posted the highest all-around score in the nation at the California Grand Invitational with a massive 39.500. She holds a career-high of at least a 9.900 on all four events, including a perfect 10 on vault, a score she received twice in her club career.

Harley Tomlin, Georgia

Tomlin is solid across the board. At the 2024 Pennsylvania state championships, she notched a career-high 39.150 to win the title for the second time. She boasts career highs of at least 9.875 on all four events, despite facing some inconsistency on bars last season. Floor, however, is an event where she can make her mark at Georgia.

Elites

Chloe Cho, Illinois

With Illinois’ veteran all-arounder Mia Takekawa graduated, Cho has the potential to fill those shoes. Her elite experience will be an asset in college, and the emphasis on execution over difficulty will allow Cho to capitalize on her clean gymnastics. Her steady precense on all four events is highlighted by a monster bar routine—one that could be a staple in Illinois’ lineups.

Kaliya Lincoln, LSU

While she is typically known for the power events in elite, Lincoln is more than capable of being a star on all four for LSU. Her vault and floor will be great additions to the lineups, and a watered down beam routine should allow to score well if she hits. A college bar routine is much shorter than what she competes at the elite level, making her a likely contributor on Jay Clark’s pet event.

Ui Soma, Stanford

A member of the Japanese national team, Soma has both the difficulty and the execution to be an asset to Stanford on all four events. Her bars and beam should translate seamlessly, and her double layout on floor would be the perfect opening pass in a college floor routine. While she only competes a Yurchenko full, she has a powerful block, leaving the door open for a potential upgrade.

Ava Stewart, Minnesota

Stewart isn’t the most consistent gymnast at the elite level, but a change in pace in the NCAA could be beneficial to her. She has all the right components to be an all-around star, including a Yurchenko one and a half and a named dismount on bars. Regardless of her consistency, Stewart will likely be tested on all four events as a freshman to see where she can have the most impact.

Aurélie Tran, Iowa

Tran has solid difficulty and form across all four events. Fresh off her Olympic run in Paris alongside Stewart, Tran was Canada’s No. 2 all-arounder in all of 2024, behind the legendary Ellie Black. If she brings that same caliber of intensity to the Hawkeyes, she could find herself competing in the all-around as a freshman.
