Michigan sits atop the preseason coaches poll for the first time in program history after winning the national title in 2021. It’s also the first time it has been ranked No. 1 at any point since Jan. 11, 2016. The Wolverines received 37 first-place votes and 2,405 points overall. Florida came in second, earning 16 first-place votes and 2,319 points. The Gators were followed by Oklahoma (2,317 points; six first-place votes), Utah (2,306 points; eight first-place votes) and LSU (2,179 points; 1 first place vote) to round out the top five. No. 7 California also received one first-place vote.
