As the regular season winds down, Oregon State makes a trip down south for an exciting dual meet with LSU.
LSU has been picking up steam after getting off to a bit of a disappointing start, posting a near 198 last week led by 10s from both Lexie Priessman and Sarah Finnegan. It’s also senior night, so the Tigers will want to send off their accomplished senior class on a high note.
Oregon State is coming off of a rather disappointing meet, having to count a fall on beam, so it will want to bounce back and record a good road score here. The Beavers still have a score in the 195s to drop for NQS, so dropping it will be a major goal here.
Rotation 1
Finnegan (LSU) – y full with just a small slide back. SO PRETTY
Yamaoka (OSU) – good on shaopsh, little short on bail, hits final handstand, and small step on dismount
Harrold (LSU) – y 1.5 with a large step forward
Jacobsen (OSU) – huge tkatchev, nice handstands, short on dismount and takes a big step
Kelley (LSU) – HS front pike 1/2, chest down and a small slide back
Lowery (OSU) – good shaposh to pak, sticks DLO dismount
Priessman (LSU) – y full with a small hop back
MCP (OSU) – little close on jaeger but pulls it out, huge DLO to a stick!
Edwards (LSU) – y 1.5, little short with a step back
Briscoe (OSU) – great jaeger, nice bail, nice final handstand, sticks DLO!
Edney (LSU) – y 1.5 with a small hop forward
Gill (OSU) – great shaposh to pak, hits final handstand, college salutes out of dismount so I don’t think she’ll get the stick
After 1: LSU 49. 375, OSU 49.100
Beavers’ last few bars routines were great! Had to count that 9.75, but nothing lower. LSU with a good vault rotation, but still needs to work on some landings.
Rotation 2
Singley (OSU) – y full with a small slide back
Durante (LSU) – nice jaeger, pak is good, hitting handstands well, sticks dismount!
M Dagen (OSU) – y full with a step back
Ferrer (LSU) – great jaeger, great on bail, almost overcooks handstand but pulls it out, hop on dismount
Yanish (OSU) – sticks y full!
Harrold (LSU) – goes over on her release move and has to recast, good on jaeger, and sticks double front dismount
Jacobsen (OSU) – tsuk full, little chest down and hop back
Edney (LSU) – huge hindorff, good on bail, small slide on dismount
Greene (OSU) – she’s back! HS front pike 1/2 with a step back
Priessman (LSU) – huge tkatchev to pak, hit handstand, small hop on dismount
L Dagen (OSU) – y full with a large bounce back.
Finnegan (LSU) – huge tkatchev, great on bail, sticks dismount! That might just do it!
Mack (OSU) – exh – y full with a large step/hop back
I heard boos, so I don’t think Sarah got a 10.. 9.975
After 2: LSU 98.825, OSU 98.150
Great last few bars routines for LSU! Crowd not happy about Finnegan’s not 10. Oregon State was solid on vault, just needs to clean up some of the landings
Rotation 3
Desiderio (LSU) – front aerial to split jump is solid, perfect acro series, solid dance series, smallest slide on dismount
M Dagen (OSU) – front double full not quite around but covers well, nice double back, really fun choreography, closes with a nice front lay to front full. Great start!
Dean (LSU) – side aerial to BHS series is solid, good on split leaps, good front aerial, sticks dismount
Singley (OSU) – opening front tuck through to double back is great! nice double pike, great position on splits, and a great rudi to close!
Durante (LSU) – good front aerial to beat jump, and falls on acro series, good on splits, sticks dismount. Good recovery.
Force (OSU) – huge double pike and overrotates a bit but controls it, little short on double back.
Edney (LSU) – front aerial to split jump is solid, great acro series, great front toss, sticks dismount
Davis (OSU) – huge double pike to start! great double back, really fun dance in thous routine! great split leaps! good front lay to front full to close. Great routine!
Campbell (LSU) – great acro series to start, solid front aerial to split jump, sticks dismount!
Lowery (OSU) – I LOVE THIS ROUTINE! good front double full to opwn, great 1.5 to front lay, sticks it cold! and stuck rudi to close
Finnegan (LSU) – good wolf turn, great BHS LOSO series, beautiful leaps as usual, solid side somi, sticks dismount! That might be a 10…
Yanish (OSU) – HUGE DLO to open! front full to front lay a little wonky but pulls it through, huge double back to open
Another 9.975 for Finnegan. GAHH
After 3: LSU 148.475, OSU 147.425
Great recovery for LSU on beam after the fall. I’m surprised they didn’t give Finnegan the 10 again, but whatever. That’s been a senior night theme today apparently. Good floor rotation for OSU. Still needs to clean up some landings as we head into postseason.
Rotation 4
Commentators keep asking for OSU’s “stick chainsaw.” Pretty sure it wouldn’t have made it past TSA, but whatever…
Singley (OSU) – wobble on acro series but saves it, good on front toss but slight wobble, small slide on dismount
Harrold (LSU) – good front double full to open, good double pike, solid 1.5 to front lay to close
MCP (OSU) – good front aerial, solid BHS LOSO series, stuck dismount
Desiderio (LSU) – good DLO to open, great front tuck through to double back, good double pike to finish
L Dagen (OSU) – beautiful split leaps to open, solid front aerial, great BHS LOSO series, stuck dismount!
Campbell (LSU) – great 2.5 twist and sticks the landing! little short on double back, good 1.5 to front lay to finish
Gill (OSU) – wobbles on front aerial and falls, slight wobble on acro series but covers, small hop on dismount
Edney (LSU) – sticks double arabian to open, 1.5 to front lay is solid, good double back to close. 10 for Edney. Good routine, but I don’t think that last pass was quite there. If that’s a 10, Finnegan deserves an 11
M Dagen (OSU) – good acro series to start, slight wobble on splits, sticks dismount
Finnegan (LSU) – 1.5 though to 2.5 is great as usual, beautiful on double back! sticks double pike to close! So that should be an 11 if the last one was a 10.
Gahh, 9.95. OK then?
Lazaro (OSU) – small check on acro series but covers well, slight check on leaps, sticks dismount but chest is slightly down
Kelley (LSU) – huge DLO to open, great second pass, sticks double back to close. Ok, maybe another 10. Guess we’ll see…
…And it’s a 10!
Final: LSU 198.150, OSU 196.375
Oregon State should be happy with that meet for NQS. Beam was a little wobbly, but they were able to drop the fall. Floor scoring got a little crazy there, but hey, it’s senior night. First 198 of the season for LSU.
