Another SEC showdown is on tap Friday night as the Auburn Tigers travel to Norman to face the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners for the first time this season.
Auburn is coming off a season-high 197.200 against Alabama, showcasing one of its most complete performances of the year while still leaving room to grow. Even without standout vault and floor contributor Sophia Bell, Auburn delivered its strongest bars rotation of the season—an encouraging sign on an event that had previously limited its scoring potential. The Tigers showed they can produce 9.9-plus routines on every apparatus, but sustaining that level of scoring throughout the lineup will be essential to keep pace with the nation’s top team.
Oklahoma, meanwhile, continues to justify its No. 1 ranking, coming off its fifth 198-plus performance of the season. With every event lineup regularly exceeding 49.400, the Sooners have demonstrated exceptional depth and consistency from lead-off through anchor. However, in its recent win over LSU, Oklahoma was bested on both beam and floor—particularly notable given floor has been its lowest-scoring event relative to the others. While still a major strength, that lineup presents the clearest opportunity for improvement as the Sooners look to build on their already imposing 197.983 NQS.
The meet will be streamed at 7:45 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
Rotation 1: Oklahoma VT, Auburn UB
Blessey (OU): Front handspring front pike half and a big step forward on that vault. Looked to have missed her block and bends her knees a lot on that way down. 9.800
Huff (AUB): Maloney up to start right to shoot over, holds that last handstand and does a double layout reallllyyy close to the bar but finds the landing and sticks it! 9.775
Wells (OU): Yurchenko 1.5 and the smallest hop forward, great vault to follow up! 9.875
Hagle (AUB): Tkachev and slips right under the bar. Chalking up and going to have to repeat it. Redoing that connection, Tkachev and misses it again. Goes right to the dismount, ends with a nice double layout and a hop forward on that. Auburn needs a short term memory here to not let this early mistake derail this first event. 7.900
Schieble (OU): Front handspring front pike half, and NAILS IT. WOW! 9.925!
Jong (AUB): Critical routine here in the third spot. Chow right to Pak, really well done. Maloney half up to the high bar, and a stalder to a STUCK full-in dismount. Just what the Tigers needed to get them back on track! 9.800
Estep (OU): Yurchenko 1.5 and a tiny hop forward on that landing. 9.90
Greaves (AUB): Opens with a Church to immediate Pak right to toe handstand to Maloney half and is loose on that catch. Ends with a stuck full in dismount, a little slow in the air but pulls it around for the landing. 9.875
Mueller (OU): Yurchenko 1.5 and just a step forward. 9.875
Boyd (AUB): Maloney up to start, right to Pak, really clean, back up with a stalder, to a double tuck and gets that landing! 9.90
Fatta (OU): Yurchenko 1.5 and a hop forward on the landing. 9.90
Irvine (AUB): Opens strong with a blind to a piked Jaeger to shoot over, well done and nails that handstand. Fights for the stick on her full in dismount and drops her chest to hold onto it, but ehat a way to keep the momentum after an early mistake!
AFTER ONE: Oklahoma 49. 475, Auburn 49.175
Three tenth difference heading into rotation two, but what a way for the Auburn Tigers to rally on an event thats been a bit shaky for them early on this season. After an early mistake, the Tigers could have easily let the pressure get to it, but delivered in a big way with the following four scores all over a 9.800 with a 9.90 from Emma Grace Boyd in the fifth spot to give it a 49.175 team total.
Oklahoma’s vault lineup was definitely highlighted by the stuck vault from Scheible giving her a 9.925 in the third spot. Although only one stuck vault in its lineup tonight, the Sooners are strong on this event, giving it an early lead and a big event total of a 49.475. Not the most ‘locked in’ in terms of landings for Oklahoma, but the cleanliness in the air and control on this event is unmatched, but honing in on these extra tenths will certainly be a point of focus getting closer to the post season.
Rotation 2: Auburn VT, Oklahoma UB
Greaves (AUB): Yurchenko full to start and a tiny hop forward on that with some pike down in the air, but a clean landing to start. 9.675
Pederson (OU): Nice Ray to start, toe handstand to a gorgeous Pak and a great pirouette. Nails the last handstand and a STUCK double layout! 9.950!
Leverton (AUB): Yurchenko 1.5 and a big step forward on the landing. 9.800
Murphy (OU): Maloney up, Pak down, maybe a little too quick on that pirouette and a blind full to double tuck and a step forward on the landing. 9.850
Neal (AUB): Yurchenko 1.5 and a clean landing just a tiny hop in place! 9.90
Scheible (OU): Mounts over the low bar to a blind to straddle Jaeger, great on that. Shoot over, nice and back up with a full in dismount, STUCK! 9.90
Huff (AUB): Yurchenko 1.5 and really went for that stick, jut a small step back on that landing. 9.775
Fatta (OU): HUGE Church to start, breaks the connection but goes down to a floaty Pak a little loose on that catch but makes it work, dismounts with a beautiful double layout STUCK! 9.925
Zancan (AUB): Front handspring, front handspring pike and STICKS IT! Wow!! 9.925!
Estep (OU): Tkachev, shoot over and holds that handstand. Closes with a blind full right to a full in and sticks that landing! 9.875
Torry (AUB): Yurchenko 1.5 , good landing but locks her knees a little and just a tiny hop. 9.90
Torrez (OU): Huge Ray, big Pak down but is loose in the air down to the catch. Double layout stuck to finish off a great rotation for the Sooners! 9.90
AFTER TWO: Oklahoma 99.025, Auburn 98.475
A big 49.550 for the Sooners in its second event and massive 99+ score half way through. Pederson started Oklahoma off strong with a 9.95 in the lead off spot, and with three other scores over that 9.9 mark in the lineup, the momentum is building for OU as it heads to one of its best events.
A strong second rotation for Auburn on vault, highlighted by a big 9.9.25 career high for Zancan in the fifth spot. Although it started a little rocky with a low score in the lead off, three 9.9+ scores gave the Tigers a great 49.300 on the event. Going into floor, this is definitely an event the Tigers will be missing standout Bell on, but need to maximize to not let the gap between the two get too much bigger.
Rotation 3: Oklahoma BB, Auburn FX
Fatta (OU): BHS LOSO to start, solid. Side aerial, nice. Hitch kick to switch side, feet are a little apart fo maybe the slightest wobble but covers well. Switch leap to split jump, solid. BHS Gainer full stuck! Really comfortable in this lead off spot and it shows! 9.90
Bartman (AUB): Back 1.5 to front layout, a little loose on that but makes it to her feet. Switch side fal to straddle jump , nice on that. Good double wolf turn and moves into her last pass, double pike and is pretty short on this and takes a sizable step forward but keeps it up. 9.600
Wells (OU): Switch leg aerial, solid on that, love that. Switch leap to split jump is good, moves into BHS LOSO, very nice. Stuck round off 1.5 to close! 9.925
Wehry (AUB): Stuck double pike to open! Wow! Moves right into her second pass, front pike step out and bails out of her double tuck and just does a back tuck. Torjete full to straddle full, straddle full, nice. Definitely the score it’ll want to drop, so Auburn in an interesting spot now. 8.80
Murphy (OU): BHS LOSO is perfect to open. Front aerial and dances right down to the beam. Straight leg full turn, love that unique approach. Beat jump to split ring and the slightest check in her upper body. BHS Gainer full and takes a small step back on that landing. 9.850
Ahern (AUB): Starts off with a double wolf turn, nicely down. Front rudi to LOSO and by a toe keeps it in bounds. Back 1.5 to front layout, much better control non that. Switch leap to split jump into dance to end and a great routine to get the Tigers back on track. 9.775
Pederson (OU): BHS LOSO, nicely done. Side sumi, aggressive landing and nails it. Hitch kick to switch side, really nice. Round off double full and just a step back on that landing. Otherwise, a great routine! 9.850
Huff (AUB): HUGE full- in to start and a really clean landing. Switch ring, a little loose in that shape to a Torjete full. Front layout, front full, front tuck, loses the bounces a little and takes a small step back on the last landing. 9.825
Mueller (OU): BHS LOSO, maybe the slightest bit off and adjusts well for a no bobble landing. Side aerial sumi ? thinking it was supposed to be an aerial, but makes up for it well. Switch leap to straddle 1/4, nice. Sticks that 1.5 to end! 9.925
Neal (AUB): Great double pike, nice control on that landing. Switch ring to Torjete to wolf full, nice extension. Front thru to double tuck and another great landing! Definitely going to be the highest score of this lineup thus far!
Torrez (OU): Side aerial to LOSO, excellent. Switch leap to straddle jump, nice. BHS Gainer full and flares that out to a stick! 9.950
Greaves (AUB): Front thru to double tuck, holds onto it a little too long and takes a slide back. Switch ring to Torjete ring, nice on that. Double pike to end, much better landing.
AFTER THREE: Oklahoma 148.575, Auburn 147.350
Auburn has certainly shown growth in its ability to adapt to mistakes better than it has earlier in the year, coming up in a big way after another mistake early on its floor lineup. The rest of the lineup delivered for a good event total of a 48.875, but definitely not the rotation it wanted as it heads to beam. The Tigers need a strong rotation to get a team total it can count towards its NQS and need to deliver on an event that has been good for it in the past few competitions.
Oklahoma is now leading with a point over the Tigers thanks to another big rotation with back to back 49.550s as it heads into its last event. With a pair of 9.925s from Wells and Mueller, capped with a near perfect 9.950 from Torrez, Oklahoma showed when its no.1 on this event time and time again. Heading into the final rotation the Sooners are on pace for another huge score, but need a great floor rotation, the event that has been the lowest scoring for the team this year.
Rotation 4: Auburn BB, Oklahoma FX
Ahern (AUB): BHS LOSO and is off the beam on that. Back up with a cat leap to switch side, solid. Back 1.5 and a hop back on that landing to close. 9.100
Pederson (OU): Nice front double full to start. Back 1.5 step out to double full, really good right into choreo. Switch side straddle full wolf full, nicely done. Love the ending!! 9.90
Greaves(AUB): Last minute change; double wolf turn, a little off but saves it. Front aerial a little off but saves it well. BHS LOSO, that’s solid. Gainer pike off the end and a hop back, but does exactly what this lineup needs and gets the Tigers back on track. 9.550
Murphy (OU): Front thru to a stuck double tuck wow. Switch side to wolf full, really nice. Ends with a back 1.5 to front layout, maybe a little squatty on that landing but kicks out of it. Switch full to end into her ending choreo. 9.925
Huff (AUB): Side aerial, LOSO really works to keep that on but covers it nice. A little off on that full turn, but not bad. Really nice split jump to straddle 1/4 great height and extension on that connection. BHS Gainer full and a step back on that landing. 9.775
Estep (OU): Punch front layout to double full, good on that. Switch half to wolf full to double stag right down to floor choreo. Loving this energy she brings week in and out to this lineup. Ends back 2.5, that’s the best she’s done that so far, strong ending for the freshman! 9.950! (career high)
Hagle (AUB): Front aerial BHS and works to get that connected. Side aerial to beat jump, nicely done. Split jump to double ring stag to BHS swing down, fun combo! Ends strong with a stuck Gainer pike off the end and a great ending for her after a mistake early on in the meet. 9.750
Fatta (OU): Front full step out to 2.5 and goes out of bounds on that (?) Can’t really tell on video. Good leaps right into her dance. Second pass front double full and thats a much better landing for her. 9.775 definitely an OOBs.
Irvine (AUB): Front toss to BHS, really solid on that. Moon walk! Switch leap to Gainer one arm BHS, a little wobble but recovers well. Beat jump to wolf jump and a tucked full Gainer off the end to a stick! Strong routine in the fifth spot. 9.850
Mueller (OU): Nice front thru to double tuck, great landing. Front layout to front rudi, a little loose in the air and not the best rotation into the landing. Torjete full into straddle full into her ending. 9.850
Neal (AUB): BHS LOSO LOSO, nails that! Switch leap to split jump, beautiful. Round off 1.5 and a hop on the landing but avoids having to count a fall in this lineup! 9.875
Pawlak (OU): Nice double pike, clean landing. Switch half to wolf full, nice. Ends with a back 1.5 to front full and buckles a little and takes a step to the side. 9.725
FINAL: Oklahoma 197.975, Auburn 196.150
VT: Scheible (OU), Zancan (AUB) 9.925
UB: Pederson (OU) 9.950
BB: Torrez (OU) 9.950
FX: Estep (OU) 9.950
AA: Fatta (OU) 39.500
Oklahoma narrowly misses its fifth consecutive 198 score, but still had a strong performance tonight at home. With some small mistakes on floor resulting in having to count a 9.775 as a part of the event total, the Sooners still went over a 49.400 across the board, but were not as clean as we have seen them in previous weeks. Heading into conference and championship season, the Sooners have been strong all year and just need to continue to keep this momentum rolling as it has shown it can week after week.
Auburn showed grit tonight across all events, coming up big in moments it needed to where lineups could have gone south quick. With a major break on every event but vault, the Tigers did not have to count any falls, but did not have the strong showing it was hoping for after a couple big scores the previous weeks. With a 49.300 being its highest total of the night, the Tigers need to use tonight to show itself it can bounce back in difficult situations, but need to build on this performance to get these bigger scores and increase its NQS before post season seating starts.
