Today’s showdown features No. 12 Alabama taking on No. 17 Michigan in what promises to be an exciting and high-stakes matchup.
Michigan is coming off a 196.900 performance in a loss to Oklahoma, but the Wolverines had standout moments, including Kayli Boozer sticking her second-ever collegiate vault for a 9.900 and the team matching its season-high floor score of 49.400. With the postseason fast approaching, Michigan will be aiming to break out of the 196 range and push toward a 197 to bolster its NQS and regional seeding.
Alabama enters the meet following a busy two-meet weekend. The Crimson Tide notched their second-highest score of the season, a 197.450, in a narrow home loss to Florida. Lilly Hudson shined on floor with a 9.975 to take the event title. At the Elevate the Stage quad meet, Alabama added a 196.875 to its resume, highlighted by Gabby Gladieux and Hudson sharing the beam title with matching 9.950s.
But the real story tonight is Alabama’s fight to secure a spot at the SEC Championships. With only the top eight teams advancing, Alabama currently sits seventh in the SEC but could still be edged out depending on this weekend’s results. A strong score tonight is crucial to keep the Crimson Tide in the postseason mix.
