Aleah Cassmeyer Named First Head Coach at McMurry

Aleah Cassmeyer will be McMurry’s inaugural head coach, the program announced Monday.

“I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the McMurry women’s gymnastics program. Building a program in Texas from the ground up is an opportunity and challenge that is truly a dream,” Cassmeyer said. “I can feel the energy and excitement from the community here already and can’t wait to bring college gymnastics to Abilene.”

As a gymnast, she helped Lindenwood qualify to regionals in 2019. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Cassmeyer returns to her home state with coaching experience, spending two seasons as an assistant coach at UW-Oshkosh before serving in the same role last season at LIU. During her time at LIU, she also served as the team’s recruiting coordinator and assisted with team operations.

“I would like to welcome Aleah to the McMurry family and back to her home state of Texas. She is the perfect person to start the women’s gymnastics program because of her ties to the area,” athletic director Susan Decker said. “I’m excited to see where she will take the program and look forward to watching her build her own team.”

McMurry announced the addition of men’s and women’s gymnastics to its athletic programs in April, with the intent to begin competing in the 2028 season.
