Five-star Elizaveta Grebenkova, the top recruit in the class of 2027, has announced her intention to graduate early and join the Crimson Tide as part of the class of 2026. She capped off her senior season by scoring the only bars 10.0 of the meet at national championships and taking home a second-place finish in the all around with a 39+ score.
The Varna Challenge Cup was held from May 7 through May 10 in Varna, Bulgaria, with two recruits in action. Serbian national team member Natalia Jacoby (Georgia, ‘26) competed on bars, beam, and floor, where her best placing was 18th in floor qualifications. Also in attendance was Nikol Stoimenova of Bulgaria (‘27), who trains at Aylesbury, home gym of Ondine Achampong and the Gadirova twins, which was recently destroyed in a fire. Stoimenova qualified for the beam final with 12.366, which would have been enough for a share of fourth in the final, but mistakes throughout meant she finished in ninth.
Michelle Pineda (UCLA, ‘26), Jazmyn Jimenez (Georgia, ‘26), and Dominica Escartín (‘28) competed at Mexican national championships, placing first, second, and fourth, respectively. Pineda and Escartín were later named to the Mexican team for the Central American Games and Pan American Championships. Jimenez was unable to compete at the selection trials due to sickness.
