They say the best is saved for last. That couldn’t be more true with this final day of competition bringing together the highest-caliber athletes on each event for a showcase of exquisite technique and outstanding skill.
Taylor Ingle of SEMO truly lived up to her MIC Athlete of the Year accolades and qualified on all four events. Ingle also is set to compete at the Lexington regionals next weekend on vault. It wouldn’t be far fetched to say she could walk away today with a title or two. Also in the regionals pool and competing today is SEMO’s Abby Royer (floor), Bridgeport’s Nova Staruk (vault), and Texas Woman’s Sophie Isbell (vault) and Sophia Hernandez (floor). Each has proven their capability on their respective events and should be geared up to make a splash today at event finals. Deserving a special shoutout also are the athletes who qualified as individuals from Fisk, Centenary, Greenville, and Wilberforce. It’s tough to face such an energetic competition without a team behind you, but these athletes rose to the challenge and proved their abilities.
Some of these gymnasts have competed every day this weekend, but the sheer energy of all teams converging to support their individuals will be plenty to carry them through any hints of fatigue. There’s a good deal of excellent gymnastics in store for us this afternoon, and these stellar individuals are geared up to end this weekend with a title of their own.
