LIVE BLOG: 2026 WCGNIC Championships Semifinal Two

Here we go again for this second semifinal session of the 2026 WCGNICs! Three must become two as Texas Woman’s, Southern Connecticut, and West Chester fight to advance to Saturday’s team final. TWU enters as the heavy favorite in this semi and hot on the path for revenge coming off a conference upset. SCSU and West Chester will duke it out for the second spot. Based on data, the Owls claim a slight upper hand, but don’t forget that the Rams will be on home turf. It could turn into a tight race as each team digs deep to move forward for title contention.

Making up the fourth squad are six Fisk athletes competing as individuals. Each are looking to earn a spot in event finals on Sunday. Keep an eye on all-arounder Ciniah Rosby as she returns for another year to the WCGNIC stage.

For more information, we’ve previewed both team and individual contenders.

West Chester – UB

McCullough: Massive Ray, sticks the blind full to double tuck! Nice opener for WCU! 9.750

Schultz: Shaposh to Pak, form in both. DLO, two small steps. 9.475

McNamara: Keeps good form through a high gienger to bail. Lots of height for the FTDT, step back. 9.725

Ringas: Clear hip to Gienger, bail is short of hs and leg separation, some leg form but sticks the double lay! 9.700

Smith: Super close on the straddle jaeger and loses momentum. Bail short of hs, blind to double front dismount, great technique — legs and feet together!! — but opens early and stumbles to a fall. 8.625

Eskew: Good Gienger to Pak, switch kip, DLO and a step back. 9.650

Individuals (all Fisk) – BB

Berkley: Hits the bhs loso, good form throughout. Tall kickover, small check. 180 splits in her jumps. Stuck gainer full! 9.700

Reed-Hammon: Controlled full turn, BHS to side aerial flows, 180 on the split, short back leg on split 3/4. Lands the dismount. 9.825

Rosby: Wolf turn, BHS 1.5 dismount and sticks! 9.825

Texas Woman’s – FX

Zarlengo: Big double tuck, a bit off on the wolf full. RO 1.5 went really high, into a front lay. 9.750

Bourgeois: Open double pike, pretty RO 1.5 to front lay. Double tuck lands well. 9.825

Steffan: FHS 2/1, makes it all the way around. Bhs loso for back tumbling requirements. Front thru to Rudi, kind of jumps out of it to the side. 9.550

Mickens: Slides back out of the first Rudi. Switch side to Popa, good straddle positions. Good chest position from the RO 1.5 to the front layout, floats it. Double pike to finish! 9.800

Minard: Front lay to Rudi rotates well. Over 180 in the switch full to Popa 2x. 9.825

Isbell: So much power and height on the double tuck. Switch full to wolf full, RO 1.5 to barani and a massive double stag jump out with a big smile! 9.875

AFTER ONE: Texas Woman’s 49.075, West Chester 48.300, Southern Connecticut 48.125

All three Fisk routines hit on beam! I love that they are rotating as a “team”, even though technically it’s a squad of individuals. TWU has a brilliant start with an event total over 49. West Chester was able to erase a fall on bars and must put any doubt out of its mind as it moves to beam. Southern Connecticut had a solid vault rotation but a few landing errors put it at the bottom for now. The Owls will need to set themselves apart sooner rather than later if they want to stay in the game.

Rotation 2: TWU VT, SCSU UB, West Chester BB, Individuals (Fisk) FX

Texas Woman’s – VT (48.825)

Reid: Yurchenko layout full, great block and form off the table. 9.850

Loock: Back pike off the table, small hop back. 9.725

Bourgeois: Yfull, some leg separation, small hop back. 9.750

Baker: Powerful Yfull, step back on the landing. 9.725

Murphy: FHS pike half, form breaks but lands well. 9.750

Isbell: Yurchenko blind landing , good position, 9.750

SCSU – UB (48.175)

Axell: Toe hand to flashy Gienger, blind full and sticks the double tuck cold! 9.650

Christensen: Nice open Jaeger straddled, to bail, a little early off for the DLO and pikes down, but a solid landing. 9.625

Schibi: Maloney to s short of HS bail, hop fwd out of the toe pike half, leg form. 9.575

Dinisoe: Nice bail hs, stuck toe pike half! 9.675

Fitzgerald: Good straddle jaeger, blind to double and sticks it! 9.650

Sepulveda: Long judges conference ahead of Sopulveda. Rare that bars is the holdup. Huge Tkatchev, goes over on the handstand but doesn’t come off the bar, bail hs, FTDT with some leg separation and a step. 8.850

West Chester – BB (47.500)

Keane: Hits the bhs bhs loso, 9.575

McCullough: Nice bhs loso, hits the beat to side aerial, 180 splits, stuck gainer pike! 9.700

Smith: Check on the leap, off on her series 8.925

Kelly: Off on her series, 180 leaps, a big wobble but saves from another fall, cartwheel gainer full to stick. 8.875

Stoner: Solid front toss to bhs, sticks the dismount! 9.825

McGuinn: Switch to split 1/4 is solid. Hip break on the front aerial. Repeats to a back tuck, little wobble. RO 1.5 doesn’t “pop” much off the beam. 9.475

Individuals (all Fisk) – FX

Mora: Enthusiastic jump out of her first pass, switch to switch ring, both in good position, front lay front full, controlled lunge out, we’ve got the “Rio” movie music and the whole crowd is jamming. 9.625

Reed-Hammon: Front thru to double, sent it back rather than up and lands low. Twisting to a big split jump. The classic Biles choreo to end! 9.550

Coleman: Powerful FTDT, bit low on the landing, good leaps. Front through to double tuck and snaps to the lunge! 9.750

Rosby: Front thru to Rudi split jump, excellent control. Switch ring to switch leap, over 180 on those. RO 1.5 to full, really showing control out of these passes. 9.725

AFTER TWO: Texas Woman’s 97.900, Southern Connecticut 96.300, West Chester 95.800

We are halfway through this meet, and at this point, it’s not a close one. Texas Woman’s pulls ahead significantly after a hit vault rotation, highlighted by Alaina Reed’s outstanding Yurchenko full. West Chester was forced to count a fall on beam, though Lydia Stoner pulled the Rams back on track with a 9.825 after two falls. The Rams’ finals hopes may rest on some mistakes from the Owls. Southern Connecticut had a steady bars to remain firmly in the mix. The Owls need to stave off any major mistakes to fend off the Rams the rest of the meet.

Rotation 3: Individuals (Fisk) VT, TWU UB, SCSU BB, West Chester FX

I do have to add that there are some really incredible high heels moments happening. Squishy mats are no deterrence. I’m obsessed.

Individuals (all Fisk) – VT

Diggs: Yurchenko tuck full, way underrotated rotation and falls forward. 8.650

Reed-Hammon: Yurchenko layout full and I’m pretty sure that was a stick!! 9.600 (lowered from a 9.8?)

Berkley: Yurchenko full, chest is up for a good landing! 9.750

Rosby: Yurchenko layout, really high on the table. Step back. 9.500

Texas Woman’s – UB (49.350)

Bourgeois: Nice straddle jaeger, nails the FTDT, 9.825

Zarlengo: Piked jaeger, bail hs, hits hs on high, cold stick on the double lay!

Loock: Floated the bail hs, super clean through the FTDT, and another stick for the Pioneers!

Reid: Off on her release. Finishes with a stuck double tuck!

Bowns: Pretty Maloney to a nice bail hs, and guess what? A STUCK double tuck.

Ferrari: Straddle jaeger, straddle back hs , DLO and that 6/6 sticks for TWU. Wow. 9.900

SCSU – BB (47.175)

Allen: Hits the series, step on the 1.5 dismount.

Fitzgerald: Misses her front foot and comes off on bhs loso. Back up, 180 leaps, gainer full off the end, lands well.

Stanfa: Solid on the jump combo. Not too much rise but a good landing on the RO 1.5

Damiano: Front aerial to bhs is done well. Comes off on her jump combo. Sticks the gainer pike. A counted fall for SCSU.

Chronopoulos: Nails the cat leap to side aerial, step on the gainer pike dismount. 9.725

Dinisoe: Good split leaps, nailed bhs loso with straight legs, front aerial but wobbles through the scale, RO 1.5 tucked is stuck! 9.800

West Chester – FX (48.400)

Stoner: FHS Rudi is good, 9.600

Vargo: Double pike, good lunge out. Pretty switch ring, RO 1.5 to a whippy front lay. 9.625

Smith: Front 2/1, controls the lunge. RO 1.5 to front lay is good. RO double tuck a little low.

Sobczak: Controlled front full to lay, low and a slide back from the Rudi.

Keener: FHS 2/1, sticky landing. RO 1.5 to front lay, right to the corner. Nice control in the FHS Rudi.

Gruber: Rudi to split jump, short of 180 on the switch full. RO 1.5 to front lay, layout doesn’t get much rise.

AFTER THREE: Texas Woman’s 147.250, West Chester 144.200, Southern Connecticut 143.475

All I can say is wow. Southern Connecticut did what it really didn’t want to do and counted two falls on beam, opening the door for West Chester to sail past. The rotation ended on a positive note after Maria Chronopoulos got the lineup back on track and set up Gabriela Dinisoe for a 9.800 score. The Owls go to floor, where they need to make a statement. The Rams head to vault, where they will need to dial in landings to keep their edge. All that, and then some, because over on bars, TWU shattered its season record for a huge 49.350 with not one but TWO 9.900’s at the end from Caroline Bowns and Brooke Ferrari. This is crazy, you guys.

Rotation 4: West Chester VT, Individuals (Fisk) UB, TWU BB, SCSU FX

West Chester – VT (48.525)

Vargo: 9.500

Griffith: Yfull tucked to open, slightly low landing, 9.675

Sobczak: Yfull tucked, good distance and a step back, 9.750

Smith: FHS front tuck soars! Small step. 9.600

McComeskey: Sticky feet on the FHS pike! 9.750

Eskew: Yurchenko full on, tuck off moves well, step back. 9.750

Individuals (all Fisk) – UB

Rosby: Maloney to bail hs, toe circles are good, toe half to pike and a cold STICK!! 9.700

Texas Woman’s – BB (48.800)

Reid: Nails the bhs loso, great leap extension. Side aerial to split is good! 9.850

Steffan: Comes off on the front tuck mount, hit bhs loso. Step on the dismount. 9.025

Goad: Bhs side aerial series is solid. Side aerial to 1.5, two steps. 9.700

Minard: Hit bhs loso. Split 3/4 to Shushunova-type jump down (ala Neff), side somi and I thought she was off center but holds it. Step on the gainer pike. 9.650

Bowns: Check on the bhs loso, Y-scale from sit, stuck gainer full! 9.775

Isbell: Bhs, loso, loso, feet don’t even touch the beam on the second layout and comes off. Good split positions. RO 1.5 with a tiny hop. 9.000

SCSU – FX

Axell: High double tuck with feet glued, 9.675

Lewis: Switch half is 180, RO 1.5 to front lay, good control. 9.650

Kelly: 1.5 to front tuck to open, double tuck, some painfully looking loose ankles on the landing. 9.375

Allen: Front lay front full, reigns in momentum. Drills the double pike to finish. 9.750

Sepulveda: Punch 2/1, really snaps the lunge, great split positions, front through to back 2/1, underrotated and takes a few steps back but doesn’t fall. 9.475

Royer: Graceful in the FHS full to layout, RO loso for good measure, really expressive in the dance. FHS Rudi to split jump, well controlled. 9.850
