It’s a crimson clash in Norman as Alabama visits Oklahoma on Alumni Night, with the Sooners also unveiling their championship banner.
Alabama is coming off a strong home win over Oregon State, highlighted by a massive 49.675 on floor. Still, the Crimson Tide will need to clean things up to challenge Oklahoma on its home turf. Inconsistent landings and missed beam connections limited scoring potential last time out. To stay within striking distance, Alabama must set the tone early on bars and minimize deductions on vault before heading to its stronger events. Chloe LaCoursiere’s bars routine will be pivotal—she’s scored 9.900 or better in every appearance this season and currently ranks No. 1 nationally on the event.
Oklahoma also won its most recent outing but showed flashes of vulnerability that can’t resurface tonight. Bars and floor—by most teams’ standards elite events—are currently the Sooners’ lowest-ranked, sitting sixth nationally, which happens to align with Alabama’s strengths. Oklahoma has been at its best at home, posting its lone 198 of the season in Norman. Replicating that performance will be essential to fending off the upset. Faith Torrez has been limited to bars and beam following a preseason ankle injury, but with a double-meet weekend ahead, a return to vault could be in play.

Lineups are here and…it’s time for Mackenzie Estep’s all-around debut. Also scheduled to compete all-around is Chloe LaCoursiere, adding vault for the first time this season after exhibitioning last week. Elizabeth Blessey is currently back in the vault lineup, we’ll see if that sticks.
Rotation 1: Oklahoma VT, Alabama UB
Scheible (OU): Already seeing lineup changes as this was Pederson’s spot initially. Front pike half, didn’t get a ton of distance off the table so she landed really close. Hop forward on the landing. 9.800
Walker (ALA): Pretty first handstand, Maloney to Pak, no leg separation, Van Leeuwen, bit of bent arms on the catch, FTDT with a hop back. 9.875
Wells (OU): Y 1.5, some loose knees in the air, decent height and distance, hop forward on the landing. 9.850
Gladieux (ALA): blind to straddle Jaeger to immediate overshoot, the camera angle is really hard to see positions, but it looks good from here. Doesn’t quite finish the full pirouette on top of the bar and fights to get the stick on the dismount. 9.850
Blessey (OU): FHS pike half, more distance than Scheible’s , nice straight arms on the block, low chest on the landing with a sizable step back. 9.825
Fuller (ALA): Pak salto, nice distance on the catch, Van Leeuwen, little bit of loose knees in the air, pulls her DLO dismount in with a sizable leg separation and hops back on the landing. That was really close.
Estep (OU): Y 1.5, nice straight arms on the block, big height and distance, nice straight legs with a STICK. And a “oh yeah” at the end. I don’t see anything to deduct. 9.950 are you for real
N. Pawlak (ALA): nice first handstand, Maloney to Pak, looked like she was too far away but saves it. Also saves the handstand right after it, DLO dismount with a tiny hop back.
Mueller (OU): Y 1.5, bent elbows on the block, some looseness when she opened up to find the landing, she got the stick, but her feet were apart. 9.925
LaCoursiere (ALA): Maloney to Pak, nice straight arms on the catch, gorgeous handstands throughout, Van Leeuwen, maybe a tiny arm bend on the catch, FTDT with a stick. 9.925
Fatta (OU): Y 1.5, tiny arm bend on the block, nice legs in the air with OU’s third stick of the rotation. After Estep’s 9.950, that was just as good if not a little bit better? 9.975.
Ra-Akbar (ALA): Pak salto to open, pretty position, really taking her time on the handstands, zero leg separations throughout, stalder to double tuck with a scoot back. That was the only major deduction I saw, that was a solid bar routine after a couple off weeks! 9.900
AFTER ONE: Oklahoma 49.525, Alabama 49.375
I don’t know where they found a deduction for Mackenzie Estep but that was the highlight of this rotation as Oklahoma takes the lead after rotation one. The Sooners had three 9.800s at the start but got three sticks at the end to propel them forward. Alabama’s bars was good, but with the Sooners sticking vaults, you can’t have scoots on your landings. LaCoursiere and Ra-Akbar ended the rotation with two 9.900s and some momentum as the Crimson Tide heads to vault.
Rotation 2: Alabama VT, Oklahoma UB
Sears (ALA): Y 1.5, nice straight arms on the block, LOTS of distance! Much more control on the landing than in the past, took a hop forward with a low chest. 9.875
Pederson (OU): Ray release, really high above the bar, Pak salto, does NOT touch her feet to the mat like last time she was here. DLO dismount with a stick! 9.925
LaCoursiere (ALA): Y 1.5, straight arms on the block, some leg separation toward the end, hop forward on the landing. 9.825
Murphy (OU): Maloney to Pak, little bit of ankle separation in the air. Gorgeous extension on her handstand, blind full to double tuck with a stick. This rotation is going to be bonkers. 9.925
Paradise (ALA): Y 1.5, held the landing as long as she could but takes a small hop forward! Good distance and height, Crimson Tide is rolling on vault! 9.875
Scheible (OU): Blind to straddle Jaeger, could’ve used a little more height when you compare it to Pederson’s ray. Little short on the handstand after. Bail to handstand, little loose in the handstand, but holds on. FTDT, held on too long and takes a step on the landing. 9.825
Gladieux (ALA): Y 1.5, bit of an elbow bend on the block, goes to the side, controlled landing but takes a hop forward. 9.825
Fatta (OU): Church to immediate Pak, had to stretch but caught it nicely. Pretty final handstand, double layout, nice chest position on the landing with a stick. 9.900
Ra-Akbar (ALA): Y 1.5, some arm bend on the block, really powerful off the table! Opens up and finds the landing and moves her heels together. Wow. 9.950
Torrez (OU): Ray to open, good height and nice toe point. Some leg separation in the Pak salto, she caught it weirdly and had to adjust mid routine, DLO with a stick. 9.900
Cawley (ALA): Y 1.5, lots of distance, really loose knees in the air, had too much power and had to take a sizable step forward. 9.650
Estep (OU): Tkatchev to open, really pretty bail to handstand and nice final handstand. Full turn to FTDT with…you guessed it, another stick. She’s spot on tonight. 9.925
AFTER TWO: Oklahoma 99.100, Alabama 98.725
The Sooners get a second straight team score above 49.500 tonight as they extend their lead over the Crimson Tide. Every counting score was 9.900 or higher, capped off with Estep’s 9.925 after moving down the anchor spot. Alabama got a couple of sticks and were clean in the air, which is really all it could ask for with the Sooners lighting up the place on bars, but there’s still two more rotations to go and anything could happen.
Rotation 3: Oklahoma BB, Alabama FX
Fatta (OU): BHS LOSO, nice flow between those skills. Side aerial, hit. Hitch kick to switch side, maybe a small pause but probably won’t get taken. Switch leap split jump, tiny balance check after the jump. BHS gainer full with a stick. 9.900
LaCoursiere (ALA): I am a Chloe LaCoursiere stan. That is all. Nice high double tuck to open, slides that front foot back on the landing. Switch ring to tour jete, really nicely done (I think, the camera was zoomed in on her face). Front layout to Rudi to double stag, nice control on that jump! Solid opening routine for the Tide. 9.875
Wells (OU): Cat leap to switch leg side aerial, WOW, that was difficult but she nails it. Nice 180 in the jump combination. BHS LOSO, solid with a small balance check. RO 1.5 dismount with a stick. 9.900
Cawley (ALA): Tucked full-in to open, nice high chest and control on the landing. Switch half wolf full wolf full, solid rotation. RO 1.5 to front layout, maybe a tiny stutter out of it but stays in control. 9.850
Murphy (OU): BHS LOSO was solid, her choreography throughout this has been really good. Small balance check after the full turn, great extension on her split ring, could’ve raised the front leg a bit more on replay, BHS gainer full, looked like she might’ve lifted her foot on the landing? 9.825
Rybicki (ALA): Solid double tuck to open, kept that front foot still to keep control. Lacked some amplitude on her leap combination. Back 1.5 to front full, really clean landing out of that! Alabama is holding its own here on floor so far. 9.900
Estep (OU): BHS LOSO, tiny balance check but able to adjust. Switch leap switch leap, covers the wobble out of it by turning sideways. Cat leap to side aerial, solid. RO 1.5 with a stick. For her first beam routine in college, it wasn’t bad, definitely has room for improvement. 9.775
Ra-Akbar (ALA): front tuck through to 2.5 twist, WOW, I loved that. She was super tight in the twist and opened up nicely to find the landing. Switch ring to switch half well over 180 degrees, back 1.5 to front layout, maybe a little bit of loose knees in the 1.5. Double wolf turn, nicely controlled. 9.950
Pederson (OU): Slightly overcooks the full turn, but nothing major. BHS LOSO, solid. Side somi, spot on. Hitch kick to switch side, nice extension over the beam. RO double twist with another stick. 9.925
Sears (ALA): Coming off two 9.900s with their two best floor routines to come? This should be a good ending to this rotation. Double layout, gorgeous form with a stick, couldn’t quite tell her chest position but lots of height. Switch side to straddle full, BIG amplitude well over 180. Front tuck through to double tuck, that time her chest position was nice and high and ends with a crown. Nice.
DID SHE JUST DO THE WORM? I love.
Torrez (OU): Wolf jump, no one else does it like her. Side aerial layout step out, tiny tiny wobble out of it. Switch leap to straddle jump, over 180. BHS gainer full, stuck. 9.975
Gladieux (ALA): Tucked full-in, pretty big slide back of the front foot on the landing. Nice amplitude on her leap series! Front layout to Rudi to split jump, really nice control out of the jump. 9.875
AFTER THREE: Oklahoma 148.625, Alabama 148.250
Oklahoma is on pace for a 198 after a hit beam rotation, capped with Torrez’s second 9.975 of the season on beam. Estep’s debut was a little shaky but should keep her in contention for the all-around title heading into the fourth rotation. Alabama was a little below its score from last week, but 49.500 on the road is very impressive and nothing to hang your head about. Let’s finish this up, shall we?
Rotation 4: Alabama BB, Oklahoma FX
LaCoursiere (ALA): Nice choreography to open, split jump to stag jump, balance check out of the second jump. Front aerial to BHS, kept her arms moving so we shouldn’t have a repeat of last weekend’s inquiry. Another balance check after the full turn, RO 1.5 with a hop forward. 9.800
Pederson (OU): FHS front double full, small stumble out of it but stays upright. Second pass is back 1.5 through to double twist, small hop on the double twist. Switch side straddle full wolf full, maybe cheated the rotation just a little bit, but a solid routine overall! 9.875
Cawley (ALA): Double wolf turn, solid opening. BHS LOSO, spot on. Love the “roll tide roll” when she does the roll on the beam, it’s creative. Hitch kick to switch side, bit of a knee bend from the side view. BHS gainer full, nice rise on the gainer full, with a stick. 9.900
Murphy (OU): Opens with front tuck through to double tuck, low chest but gets it up quickly with a stick. Her toe point on her leap series is phenomenal. Back 1.5 to front layout, nice rise on the second skill. 9.900
Ladanyi (ALA): Front aerial to split jump, couldn’t tell you much about it because of the front view of the camera. BHS LOSO, some wobbles out of it. Switch leap split jump, nice toe point and extension. BHS gainer full with a stick. 9.800
K. Pawlak (OU): Double pike to open, could’ve used a little more rise out of it, but solid on the landing. Switch half wolf full, great rotation on those leaps. Back 1.5 to front full, nice tight twist. Really nicely done for the freshman, I hope we get to see her on more events soon! 9.925
Kvamme (ALA): Slightly overcooks the full turn, front aerial to BHS LOSO solid. Switch leap split jump, nice toe point and solid extension. Front toss, tiny lean to the side. Front gainer full with a stick. 9.925
Mueller (OU): Front tuck through to double tuck, solid control on that landing. It looks like she’s inherited the creepy floor routine from Jordan Bowers. Front layout to Rudi, no issues today. Leaps were a little messy looking, but shouldn’t be too big of a deduction. 9.925
Gladieux (ALA): BHS layout to two feet, she was off from the start, tried to save it, puts her hands on the beam and falls. Ugh. Gets back on track, switch leap split jump right at 180. RO double twist with a stick. Not the routine she wanted, but hopefully Fuller will be able to drop this score. 9.225
Fatta (OU): Front full to 2.5 twist opens, much better than last week at Kentucky. 9.75 or better gets Oklahoma to 198 for the second time this season. FHS front double full, dances out of it, should easily get the 9.75 for 198. 9.950
Fuller (ALA): Front aerial to split jump, really needs a hit here to get the fall dropped. Just the BHS LOSO today, smart with the fall. Switch leap split jump, right at 180, really sharp throughout this routine. RO 1.5 with a stick, drops the fall, we’ll see how much that jumps Alabama’s score. 9.775, that felt a little low. I didn’t see anything noticeably off.
Estep (OU): Front layout front double full, underrotated it and almost sits it down, but saves it. Nice rotation on her leaps, she’s getting back into the routine. 2.5 twist, LOTS of height and gets that landing easily. Please don’t send her to the dungeon, KJ, I beg of you.
FINAL: Oklahoma 198.200, Alabama 197.450
VT: A. Fatta (OU) – 9.975
UB: M. Estep (OU), L. Pederson (OU), E. Murphy (OU), & C. LaCoursiere (ALA) – 9.925
BB: F. Torrez (OU) – 9.975
FX: A. Fatta (OU) & A. Ra-Akbar (ALA) – 9.950
AA: A. Fatta (OU) – 39.725
Overall, it was exactly what a top-five matchup should be. It was competitive from beginning to end and in the end, the Sooners get their second score of 198 plus heading into Metroplex Sunday. I’ll be interested to see how the lineups change, if at all, and how everyone recovers before they head to Texas. Alabama kept its heads in the game and focused and got a solid road score to tally into its NQS. (can you believe we’re getting closer to that already??)
