2026 Mountain West Potential Lineups

San Jose State

San Jose State is another team that is undergoing some major changes this season, with not only the graduation of five consistent athletes, but the transfer of Madison Gustitus to Arkansas, a beam lineup staple. However, the Spartans are bringing in several new faces that have the potential to not only make this transition easier, but set the team up for success for this season and the next four.

2025 Rewind

No. 49 overall | No. 3 at Mountain West | No. 49 in regular season

Coming in third at the Mountain West conference with a 195.350 was a good final showing for the team, as was coming in at less than a point off first place to Utah State, who scored just over a 196. The Spartans especially struggled on floor last season, ending with this event ranked 58th nationally, but performed excellently on beam, coming in at no. 32. However, with the loss of Gustitus as the top beam worker, it will be interesting to see how the team adjusts this season with the absence of her consistency on such a pressure-packed event.

Team: 196.675 | AA: 39.575 (Thomasina Wallace) | VT: 49.200/9.950 (Jaudai Lopes) | UB: 49.375/9.950 (Jada Mazury) | BB: 49.400/9.950 (Lauren Macpherson) | FX: 49.550/10.0 (Jennifer Greene)

Patterson is one to look out for to break a record this season, coming into her first year with the capability to contribute across all four events. All of the top scores last season that could have broken or tied these records were from now-graduated seniors, so it will be exciting to see who can step into those positions to score high and get to the same threshold last year’s upperclassmen were achieving.

The Big Picture

San Jose State has to deal with some major losses this season, but with the addition of two transfers with already a year of experience in the NCAA, as well as freshman all-around hopefuls Patterson and PeBenito, this is another team that could have its season go one of two ways. Either it cannot adjust in time to have a strong season and get to a higher ranking at the end of the year, or it taps into depth it is hopefully building and calls on its newcomers to have a more successful season than the last.

Likely 2026 finish: Fourth in the MWC

Air Force

With one of the larger groups of returning veterans and a significant class of incoming freshmen, Air Force has the potential to move up, not only in its conference but in the national rankings as well.

2025 Rewind

No. 54 overall | No. 4 at Mountain West | No. 54 in regular season

Air Force had its strongest performance of the season at the conference championship, finishing less than a point out of first place. The Falcons consistently scored in the mid-193 to 194 range, finding the most success on bars and vault. However, early-season struggles hindered their final national ranking in 2025.

Maggie Slife and Alyssa Bigler have been standout competitors throughout their Air Force careers, already cementing their names in the program’s record book. While both have the potential to top their own marks, others, like Wallace—who is returning from injury—and Greene, could also challenge those records this season.

The Big Picture

Although the Falcons graduated several experienced veterans, they return one of their largest rosters in years—featuring veterans who have yet to make their debuts and freshmen ready to step into key roles. Walker could be a standout on vault, while McDermott has all-around potential. With Slife, Bigler, and a healthy Wallace all capable of competing all four, Air Force has the tools for a breakout season if it can capitalize on its untapped potential, veteran experience, and promising newcomers.

Likely 2026 finish: Third in the MWC
