10 Floor Routines to Rewatch This Offseason

With the NCAA gymnastics season behind us, it’s the perfect time to reflect, relive, and rewatch some of the routines that stood out this year. From perfect 10s and title-clinching moments to performances whose choreography deserves a spot in the hall of fame, these floor routines stood out for all the right reasons.

10. Avery Neff’s first floor back after injury

After what many feared was a season-ending injury on floor Jan. 17, Utah freshman Neff defied expectations and left us wondering what her ligaments are made of after returning to bars just three weeks later. She made her floor comeback March 8 with this solid routine, and her scores built from there, culminating in a 9.9125 at the national championships.

9. Creslyn Brose becoming the fifth Wildcat ever to score a 10.0

Brose became just the fifth Kentucky gymnast in program history to score a perfect 10.0 with her floor performance on March 7 against Arkansas. The sophomore had been knocking on the door of perfection with three 9.975s during her freshman season, but the milestone finally came in the penultimate meet of the regular season.

8. Kiara Hockman’s career-high 9.900

Brockport sophomore Hockman finished the season as the top-ranked Division III gymnast on floor with an NQS of 9.855, scoring 9.900 twice. Controlled tumbling, impressive leaps, and precise choreography make her routine a delight to watch. This performance marked her second 9.900 of the season, tying the career-high she set just two weeks earlier.

7. Jade Carey’s three-meet 10.0 streak

Carey finished the season ranked seventh on floor and didn’t count a score below 9.900 all year. Her routine at Gill Coliseum on March 15 against Air Force kicked off a streak of three consecutive perfect 10.0s—the second came the following week on senior night, and the third in the regional semifinal. College Gym News’ resident judge, Rhiannon Franck, awarded this routine five stars in her monthly Judge’s Inquiry, deeming it was truly perfect.

6. Chae Campbell’s senior night routine in Pauley

It would be a crime to make a list of rewatchable floor routines and not include Campbell. She’s a once-in-a-generation performer who delivered four (!) different routines over the course of the season. We chose her senior night performance, not only because it was her final floor routine in Pauley Pavilion but because she brought back her viral freshman choreography, with the sequence that gave the gymternet one of its all-time favorite GIFs.

5. Jordan Bowers’ third 10.0 of the night

Bowers’ 9.960 NQS tied her for third in the nation on floor this season. This routine capped off a season-high 39.900 all-around total for her and marked her third perfect 10.0 of the meet. Her accuracy, poise, and attention to detail make it one of the best floor routines of the season.

4. Morgan Price’s WCGNIC event final sweep-clinching routine

Price swept the WGCINC event titles, capturing all four gold medals and repeating as the all-around champion. This 9.900 floor routine sealed her fourth win of the day and put a final impressive stamp on her historic and record-breaking three-year career at Fisk; she later announced her transfer to Arkansas for her final year of eligibility.

3. Kyrstin Johnson’s viral hip-hop routine

Temple sophomore Johnson went viral this season with her hip-hop floor routine set to tracks including Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” Featuring the Harlem Shake, the Dougie, and other iconic moves, the routine was choreographed by Temple junior and Diamond Gems dance team member Christina Elliot. The energy, tumbling, and commitment to performance make this a routine worth watching on repeat and earned Johnson a well-deserved season-high 9.900 at the EAGL championship.

2. Mya Hooten’s throwback to sophomore year

Graduate student and fan favorite Hooten brought it back to where so many first fell in love with her—the iconic Beyoncé-inspired floor routine from her sophomore year. In 2022, a season when the Gophers finished a program-best sixth, the routine earned her three 10.0s and made her the first Minnesota gymnast to score a perfect 10.0 on floor. Hooten ended her collegiate career competing as an individual at the national championships, the lone Gopher to qualify. Getting to see this routine one last time was a true treat and definitely one worth watching again.

1. Brooklyn Moors finally getting her 10.0

Brooklyn Moors had been chasing perfection her entire collegiate career, and on March 22, she finally achieved it with a perfect mark on floor at the Big Ten championship. She had come tantalisingly close previously in the season with multiple 9.975s, and weeks later, she cemented her legacy as one of the best floor workers by winning the NCAA title with a 9.9625. Her musicality and the quality of expression from her face to her fingertips is unmatched.

  1. Wow!! I’m shocked u purposely left off Jordan Chiles— who got more 10s on the floor this season and was the floor champion in the regular season! So many routines on here are wonderful but not better than Chile’s’. Big omission in my opinion! For those who haven’t seen it YouTube it NOW!

  2. Jaylene Gilstrap’s “Piano Man” routine was the best I saw from any athlete at any school this past season. Pretty shocking omission.
