With the first two qualifying teams already locked in, it’s time for the second semifinal of the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics National Invitational Championship, which will determine the full field for Saturday’s team final.
In addition to deciding the final two team qualifiers, tonight’s semifinal will also determine the all-around podium and individual qualifiers for Sunday’s event finals—the only meet of its kind remaining in women’s college gymnastics.
Competing tonight are host Centenary, front-runner Texas Woman’s, West Chester and Alaska.
Centenary is peaking at the right time, building momentum in the final weeks of the season. The Ladies will aim to hit four-for-four rotations to close out the year strong. Senior Sophie Schmitz and freshman Chloe Gilbert stand out for their beautiful toe point and confident presence across the board.
Texas Woman’s has already notched a program-record team score in 2025 and will be eyeing a spot in the final with confidence. If the Pioneers can get through bars—traditionally their trickiest event—in the opening rotation, the path to the final could be smooth. Keep an eye on Kaitlyn Hoiland, whose Yurchenko 1.5 is the first in program history and could put her in the mix for a vault title.
West Chester is also trending upward and brings a veteran presence to this semifinal. Seniors Lily McFarland and Jordan Coleman are poised to challenge for individual event finals on beam and bars, respectively.
Alaska enters as a potential spoiler. The Seawolves are capable of surpassing the 193 mark when they hit on all four events. Montana Fairbairn has been a steady leader, particularly strong on her three events, and will be key to the team’s success tonight.
Individual competitors in this session include Fisk University’s Morgan Price, Kaylei McDonald, Aliyah Reed-Hammon and Jada Reese, with Price headlining as a top all-around contender.

After 1: Texas Woman’s 48.925, West Chester 48.700, Centenary 47.300, Alaska 46.675
Okay. So TWU made me eat my words on bars. The Pioneers were flawless, hitting all the handstands and plenty of dismounts. My jaw actually dropped. It was even better in person, I swear. West Chester started a bit shaky, but the back half of the beam lineup would not be denied. Centenary left some tenths on the board with landings, but overall will look to continue the momentum on bars. Alaska had some uncharacteristic mistakes on floor and will look to get the energy back up on vault in rotation two.
Rotation 2: Alaska VT, Centenary UB, Texas Woman’s BB, West Chester FX
Albert (UAA): Tucked Yurchenko full, a little undercooked with a hopping step forward.
Upton (TWU): BHS LOSO, small lean, but managed. Side aerial two feet. Like it’s hard? Punch front full, snapped the heels together.
Williams (CC): Clear hip, overshoot handstand. FTDT. Stuck . Short and sweet.
Stoner (WCU): Rudi, chest forward. Back 1.5, front layout.
Costello (UAA): Took too long to get off the table. Yurchenko tuck full is pretty short with a sideway/forward step off the mat.
Isbell (TWU): BHS LOSO LoSO. A smile, small check but covereed well. Switch leap, split. A step on the dismount.
Lavelle (CC): Close on the Jaeger catch. Clear hip hand, overshoot. VERY early release on the double layout, to her knees.
Duffus (UAA): Opened up early on the Yurchenko layout full, had to put her hands down.
Kelly (WCU): Front lay, Rudi, a hop forward. I am in love with this floor music.
Brkljacic (TWU): BHS LOSO, tight arms. Right to the lunge. Switch leap, switch leap. Sharp. Wanted to wobble, but held it. Front toss to beat. She is killing this. BHS gainer full. A small hop.

Schmitz (CC): Blind, Jaeger. A bit choppy on the catch. Overshoot hand. Blind full, double tuck, a tiny foot flicker. Kudos to the Centenary lineup for handling the pressure.
Sullivan (WCU): Rudi to double stag jump. Switch side half, straddle jump. Wanted some more hip rise on that. Front lay, front full. Bouncy out of it.
Price (Fisk): Toe hand, Maloney, overshoot. Right to HS. Such a pristine bar swinger. FTDT, dropped the chest some to try to get the stick. A step forward.
