Coming off stellar performances this past weekend, the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners head to Auburn to take on the No. 11 Tigers in an exciting SEC matchup this Friday night!
Oklahoma is riding high after a double-meet weekend, posting back-to-back 198+ scores in just three days. The Sooners notched their first 198 of the season at home against Florida on Friday, highlighted by Faith Torrez’s perfect 10 on floor. They followed it up with another 198+ at the Metroplex Challenge on Sunday against North Carolina, solidifying their hold on the top spot they’ve maintained since week one.
Auburn, meanwhile, is coming off a historic victory, defeating Alabama in the Iron Bowl for the first time ever at Coleman Coliseum. The Tigers were locked in from the opening bar routine to the final beam set, finishing with a season-high 197.750. Their precise landings were key to the win, and they’ll need to bring that same energy and execution to challenge the No. 1 team in the country. With momentum and confidence on their side, the Tigers are primed to make this a competitive clash.
Follow along this Friday night at 8:00 EST on SECN+!
Katelyn Jong is confirmed to be out with an injury.
Rotation 1: VT Auburn, UB OU
Huff (Auburn): Starting off strong with a Yurchenko full and just a small step forward. 9.800.
Sievers (OU): Opens up with a Maloney to the high bar, down with a Pak, pirouette holds it wow, and dismounts a stuck full in. Gorgeous lead off wow. 9.9!
Schumaker (Auburn): Yurchenko tuck 1.5, super squatty but keeps it up on her feet but that will likely be a big deduction. 9.675.
Pederson (OU): Maloney to Palk, really nice. Dismounts with a beautiful double layout and another stick! 9.90!
Hubbard (Auburn): Huge Yurchenko 1.5 and just the smallest hop forward on that but perfection in the air! 9.875!
Fatta (OU): Starts off with a huge Church right to a Pak, a little shoulders over but recovers well and a beautiful double layout and the smallest scoot back. 9.9 (third in a row for OU!)
Zois (Auburn): Yurchenko full, nice height and hop back on the landing. 9.775.
Torrez (OU): BIG Ray to toe handstand to Pak, gorgeous pirouette, dismounts with a huge double layout and drops into the stick! 9.950!
Zancan (Auburn): Front handspring, front handspring to front pike and just a step forward on the landing! Love that vault. 9.850
Davis (OU): The most beautiful piked Jaeger to Pak, legs glued and nails that pirouette, holds that last handstand, Eagle grip to double front half out and just a step on that landing. 9.925!
Bell (Auburn): Yurchenko full STUCK! Huge wow that was big. 9.9!
Bowers (OU): Piked Jaeger to start, perfect, Pak down, a little over on that pirouette but gets the last handstand and just a step on that full in dismount. 9.9!
*exhibition Hill (Auburn): Yurchenko full, just a step back on the landing but really great form in the air! 9.725
*exhibition Smith (OU): Maloney to Pak, really well done and nails the last handstand to double layout dismount, smallest step back! 9.850
After 1: Auburn 49.200, OU 49.575
Auburn is going to have to make up for four big scores from star freshman Jong who is now out with a lower leg injury, and while she will undoubtedly be missed from these lineups, Auburn dug into its depth and put up a great first rotation and a 49+ score! Highlighted by a stuck Yurchenko full and the highest score of the rotation at a 9.9 from Bell, the Tigers will need to hone into its mentality of last week, sticking landings and nailing handstands going to bars, to keep pace with Oklahoma. Every competitive routine for the Sooners was over a 9.9 this first rotation, totaling a HUGE 49.575, and they put themselves in a great position going into vault!
Rotation 2: VT OU, UB Auburn
Pederson (OU): Yurchenko 1.5 just the smallest step forward, great vault to start off this rotation! 9.850.
Leonard (Auburn): Free hip to hue Tkachev, down to the low bar with a shoot over and nails that last handstand and dismounts with a double layout, jut a hop back! 9.775.
Torrez (OU): Yurchenko 1.5, small hop backwards on that. 9.875.
Bartman (Auburn): Blind to straddle Jaeger, Pak down, shoulders a little to far over so she has some leg separation on the catch, blind to double front and just a hop forward. 9.800!
Wells (OU): Yurchenko 1.5, just a small hop! 9.850.
Boyd (Auburn): Maloney up, leg separation on the catch but a clean Pak down, dismounts Stalder to double tuck really tries to fight for that landing and just takes a step forward. 9.775
Fatta (OU): Yurchenko 1.5, small hop to the side on the landing. 9.875.
Groth (Auburn): Big Ray, to a Pak, a little crooked but recovers well. Dismounts with a blind full to double tuck and takes a hop back on the landing. 9.825
Mueller (OU): late lineup switch in for Davis, Yurchenko 1.5 and STUCK! 9.975!
Irvine (Auburn): Blind to Piked Jaeger right to shoot over really well done and full in with a possible stick (?) maybe a step back (?) 9.9!
Bowers (OU): Yurchenko 1.5, another stuck landing! 9.9!
Greaves (Auburn): Starts with a big Church to Pak, a little close on that, Maloney half, nice and sticks her full in! 9.9!
Siegfeldt (OU) *exhibitionL Yurchenko 1.5, a little bent legs on that and takes a step, but what a luxury to have such a great vault in this spot!
After 2: Auburn 98.400, Oklahoma 99. 050
Good rotations for both teams, but still things to build on! There were only a handful of stuck landings in this rotation, but still good event totals for both Auburn and OU. Auburn ended its rotation with a pair of 9.9 from Irvine and Greaves, but looked a little more unsure of their landings as a whole from last weekend to now. Heading into beam, they will be looking to work to closing this six tenth gap in the back half of the competition. For Oklahoma, the Sooners stuck two vaults in the five and six spots with a career high 9.975 for Mueller, and all counting scores over a 9.850. Oklahoma has a large lead over the Tigers and is already on pace for another 198 for the third meet in a row if they are able to keep up these big scores for the rest of the night!
Rotation 3: BB Auburn, FX OU
Ahern (Auburn): Beautiful BHS LOSO, just a little adjustment. Hitch kick to switch half, another little adjustment. Beat jump to front aerial, nice. Round off to 1.5 STUCK! Really great lead off for the Tigers! 9.850
Davis (OU): First pass, really nice front double full right to choreo. Switch half to wolf full, sissone with the clap, love. Second pass back 1.5 to front full, really nice lead off for the Sooners always. 9.875
Greaves (Auburn): BHS LOSO, perfect. Switch leap, little off, split jump to wolf jump. Beat jump to side aerial, really nice. Sets up for Gainer pike off the end, stuck! 9.425
Pederson (OU): Back 1.5 step out to 2.5 lots of power but keeps it in bounds. Second pass, front double full, again a lot of power on that little lack of control on the landing. Switch side to straddle full to end the routine! 9.750
Zois (Auburn): First beam routine of the year! BHS BHS LOSO, really crooked but saves it. Beat jump to split 3/4, nice. Nails the round off double full dismount! 9.875
Mueller (OU): Front tuck step out to double tuck, really great controlled landing. Front layout to front rudi, done so well. Torjete full to straddle full, nice. 9.875
Zancan (Auburn): BHS LOSO, drops her shoulder but keeps it on. Switch leap to switch half and has to fight for it. Round off 1.5, step back on the landing. 9.725
Fatta (OU): Front double full and stag jumps out of bounds with both feet so going to be a big deduction. Second pass front through to 2.5 twist, still a little out of control but keeps it in. Swith leap to Switch side to straddle full, good to end! 9.650.
Groth (Auburn): BHS LOSO series, perfect ! Switch leap to switch half to split jump, little adjustment but pulls it right back. Cartwheel Gainer full off the side stuck! Best beam performance yet! 9.9!
Bowers (OU): Front double full to front tuck, perfect. Double pike, maybe a bigger step but still so nice. Switch leap to switch half to wolf full, love the landing. 9.925!
McLaughlin (Auburn): BHS LOSO, aggressive finish love. Beat jump to side aerial, perfect. Split jump to straddle 1/2, great. Gainer pike stuck off the end, I have NO NOTES. 9.925!
Torrez (OU): Coming off a ten last weekend, Torrez starts off with a huge double layout, perfect. Torjete full to wolf full into second pass front thru to double tuck a little jump back on the landing. 9.95!
*exhibition Irvine (Auburn): BHS LOSO to start but is off on that skill. Front toss to beat jump and recovers really well. Switch leap to Gainer one arm BHS, but is off again. Gainer tuck full off the end to close.
*exhibition Slade (OU): Back 1.5 to front full, nice. Good leaps right down to choreo. Second pass really nice double pike to close.
After 3: Auburn 147.675, OU 148.425
A 9.90 and a 9.925 to cap the rotation for the Tigers and a 9.925 and 9.95 for the Sooners in the final two! Slower scores to start the rotation for both sides and an early score to drop, but both teams recovered well to get a 49+ for the third rotation. A bigger gap now between the two, but the Sooners and Tigers looking to each get a higher score to count for its NQS in its last event of the night!
Rotation 4: BB OU, FX Auburn
Davis (OU): BHS LOSO, perfect. Front aerial right needle kick, gorgeous. Beat jump to ring jump, perfection. Round off double, sticks the landing, just a little chest down on the landing but what a routine for her!! 9.825
Zois (Auburn): First floor routine for her! Front double full, really nice. Split full to wolf full, nice. Good leaps right to choreo. Second pass, front thru to a STUCK 2.5 !!! What a first floor routine!! 9.825
Fatta (OU): BHS LOSO, nice. Side aerial, solid. Hitch kick to switch side, really nice. Little full turn bobble. Switch leap to split jump, good. BHS Gainer full off the side, the smallest scoot back but a great routine! 9.9!
Zancan (Auburn): Front thru to double pike, really nice. Good leaps going into her second pass, a double tuck, has a little too much power and takes a big step but keeps it in bounds and ends the routine strong!
Pederson (OU): BHS LOSO, perfect. Really nice movement throughout these routines. Hitch kick to switch side. Side sumi, really nice. Round off double full and drills it to a stick! 9.9!
Bell (Auburn): Front double full to front tuck nice. Switch half to wolf full, wolf full, great height on those three. Second pass, huge double pike, just a front foot slide but a great routine!
Bowers (OU): BHS swing down so perfect. Full turn, good. BHS LOSO perfection. Split leap to switch half nice rotation on that second leap. Dismounts round off double full, chest is up on that, and sticks it! 9.95!!
Greaves (Auburn): Front thru to double tuck, really nice. Switch ring to switch half, really beautiful. Second pass double pike and under rotates a little with step forward. Switch ring half, to jump to end! 9.850.
Wells (OU): Switch leg aerial and is almost off but saves it well, Switch leap, switch leap, right to kick, nice. BHS LOSO, nice. Round off 1.5, maybe the smallest scoot back. 9.9!
McLaughlin (Auburn): Back 1.5 to front layout, really nice. I love this routine, so much fun. Gorgeous leaps right into choreo. Second pass, perfect double pike. 9.875.
Torrez (OU): Side aerial to LOSO, almost off on that and arm circles to keep it on. Switch leap to straddle jump, beautiful. BHS Gainer full stuck off the side. 9.850.
Groth (Auburn): Front double full really nice. Great leaps to Mamma Mia choreo, perfection. Back 1.5 to front layout, literally a toe from not going out and saves that tenth. Last pass, ends with a front rudi! 9.875
Siegfeldt (OU) *exhibition: Front aerial to split jump, really nice. BHS LOSO smallest adjustment. BHS Gainer full off the side and just a small hop back on that.
Ahern (Auburn) * exhibition: Double wolf turn to start off, nice. Front rudi to LOSO, little studder step. Back 1.5 to front full, really nice way to close the night!
FINAL: Auburn 196. 900, Oklahoma 197.925
Both Auburn and Oklahoma got what they needed tonight in terms of replacing some scores for each teams NQS. Auburn, dealing with the loss of Jong, came back strong for tonight, and we got to see some new faces! Zois made her first collegiate appearance on two events, and we had several exhibitions from both teams tonight! The standout tonight would have to be Oklahoma’s bar rotation, and the crazy thing is, it could have been even higher! There were small things throughout that prevent Auburn going 197 and Oklahoma 198, but, again looking in terms of NQS both teams did what they had to do. Now that those lower scores are being dropped, they will each be looking to improve more consistently as they head into post season, especially with the qualification to SEC Championships nearing!
