LIVE BLOG: No. 17 Alabama at No. 16 Arkansas

Alabama remains at the bottom of the SEC standings for the second consecutive week, locked in a tight battle with Arkansas to avoid the ninth-place spot—the one SEC team that will miss out on the conference championship. The stakes are even higher for the Crimson Tide, as failing to qualify would mean sitting out a semi-home SEC Championship in Birmingham, an awkward outcome for a program of its caliber.

Arkansas has proven to be dangerous at home, notching statement wins over both LSU and Florida this season. While Alabama holds the edge in NQS, the Razorbacks have shown they can rise to the occasion in Fayetteville, making an upset far from out of the question.

Rotation 1: Arkansas Vault, Alabama Bars

Adams (UB): Maloney to bail handstand, some arching, bling full to stuck double tuck dismount

After 1: Arkansas 49.200, Alabama 49.475

Arkansas starting the meet off with a less-than-ideal vault rotation. Interesting decision to leave Roberson out of this lineup. Meanwhile, Alabama begins with a season-high on bars.

Rotation 2: Arkansas Bars, Alabama Vault

Paradise (VT): Lots of height on the 1.5, medium hop forwards. 9.825

Roberson (UB): Maloney to Pak, some leg separations, a little late on the pirouette, double layout with a large lunge forwards.

Arkansas is opening the door a lot with these late handstand positions and hoppy dismount landings

Hudson (VT): 1.5, clean form just a hop to the side and off to the left.

Waligora (UB): Jaegar to bail, nice amplitude, great cast position, small step on the double layout. Great anchor routine for Arkansas.

Alabama extends its lead over Arkansas after a rather shaky rotation for the Razorbacks. Neither team has been able to dial in on the landings.

Rotation 3: Arkansas Beam, Alabama Floor

Gamiao (BB): LOSO LOSO, solid, stuck dismount. Great start to get things back on track. 9.9

Sears (FX): Double pike with a big bounce back, front tuck to double tuck, small foot shuffle. 9.9 is being generous.

Waligora (BB): BHS LOSO, solid, side aerial, a little hesitant, another stuck 1.5 dismount.

Hudson (FX): Layout to double-full, nice, back 2.5 to finish, quick to lunge out of it. 9.95

Roberson (BB): Okay let’s not pan away from her routine while she’s already on the beam. Switch to back tuck, clean, side aerial to LOSO, great, tiny hop on the front full dismount. 9.925

Gladieux (FX): Open full-in, some legs in the air but nice landing, switch full to popa is great, front layout to Rudi to split jump, great work. Better than Hudon’s so it’ll be interesting to see where judges will go with this. 9.975

After 3: Arkansas 147.775, Alabama 148.400

Alabama extends its lead over Arkansas, now just for beam…

Rotation 4: Arkansas Floor, Alabama Beam

LaCoursiere (BB): Front aerial to BHS, gets the connection, stuck 1.5 dismount. 9.825

Jones (FX): Front double-full, controlled, 1.5 to layout, good rise, Rudi is clean. 9.950

Bunagan (BB): BHS LOSO, big break but saves it, split jump to stag, BHS to gainer full, stuck.

Waligora (FX): Front layout to double-full, a little low and out of control on the lunge, 1.5 to layout is clean. 9.925

Hudson (BB): Front aerial to BHS, smooth, switch to switch, smooth, aerial to beat jump? Was a little off but saved it, hop on the 1.5 dismount. 9.850

Roberson (FX): Double layout, controlled, front layout to double tuck, great finish.

Gladieux (BB): BHS lay-pikeish, solid, front aerial to waver to beat jump, switch leap, stuck double full to finish.

Alabama will pass Arkansas in NQS standings

Price (FX): Double layout, big hop back, switch side to Popa, front full to layout, medium lunge forward. 9.9 is definitely a gift but it won’t be enough for Arkansas to pass Alabama here.

Alabama moves past Auburn and Arkansas in NQS standings.
