LIVE BLOG: No. 9 Auburn at No. 12 Kentucky

Kentucky has been on a roll at home. The Wildcats have set new program records in two of the last three home meets, so Kentucky will be looking to put up a similar number here.. This meet also serves as senior night for Kentucky so you know the scores will fly. Auburn will look to capitalize on the happy judges. The Tigers are in a precarious position where Auburn needs a big team score here in order to keep hopes alive of finishing the regular season in the top eight.

Raena Worley had one of her best all-around performances of the year last week and will be looking to improve on that on her senior night. Watch out for her on floor where it is always possible for a judge to throw a senior night 10. Auburn was on track for a season high last weekend before the Tigers went to beam. While it is the same lineup as the fourth ranked beam team last season, this year the lineup has not settled in to get those high scores. That last rotation for Auburn will be crucial. Watch for the routines from Sophia Groth, who has only hit 9.9 once this season, and Sunisa Lee who has had uncharacteristic errors on the event the past two weeks.

It was just announced that Lee will not be competing today, so I guess you can ignore the last part of that intro.

Rotation 1: Kentucky vault, Auburn bars

Procasky (UK): Nice flared out full. Slight leg separation at the end. Small hop. 9.8

Hollingsworth (AUB): Held the first handstand. Good Maloney and loose on the bail. Tried to hold on to the stick on the FTDB, and brought her face to her knees. 9.775

Wilson (UK): Great front pike half for her. Stuck the landing. Good amplitude. 9.975

McLaughlin (AUB): Legs together on the Maloney to Pak. Hit the pirouette positions. Stuck the double tuck dismount. 9.875

Patterson (UK): Great chest up on her front pike half and just had the smallest slide back. 9.95

Groth (AUB): Bent arms on the catch of the Ray. Great pak and pirouette on low bar. Step to salute on the double tuck dismount after the giant full. 9.8

Magnelli (UK): Another solid front pike half with good amplitude and chest position. Just a hop back on the landing. 9.85

Brusch (AUB): Slight leg separation on the Maloney to a clean bail. Another big chest down on her landing of the double layout to try to hold the stick. 9.825

Worley (UK): Small hop forward on her 1.5. Loose knees throughout. 9.925

Stevens (AUB): Might have bent her arms on the catch of the Ray. Clean bail. Stuck the double layout dismount. 9.85

Bourque (UK): Small step across on the landing of her 1.5. Great rotation. 9.85

Gobourne (AUB): Big tkatchev to pak. Might have been short on the last handstand. Brought the heels together on the dismount. 9.9

A couple of exhibitions to end the rotation.

After 1: Kentucky 49.550, Auburn 49.250

Kentucky had a strong vault rotation, but did not stick as many vaults as the score might suggest, but the Wildcats will be happy with that strong start. Auburn was going for the stick of those dismounts which might have hurt the score a little with some deductions on landings that would have been smaller with a small hop rather than an exaggerated chest down.

Rotation 2: Auburn vault, Kentucky bars

Sabado (AUB): Pikes down on her full and steps forward on the landing. 9.7

Davis (UK): Good height on the jaeger, Clean bail. Slightly short last handstand. Hop back on the double layout dismount. Very straight body on that dismount. 9.8

Groth (AUB): Small hop back on that full. Chest a little low, but not too bad. 9.8

Procasky (UK): Great Maloney to pak and clean handstand positions. Stuck the double back dismount after the giant full. 9.85

Hubbard (AUB): Soft knees on her 1.5 with a hop forward. 9.85

Bunn (UK): Some feet on that jaeger. Solid bail. Held the stick on the double layout dismount. Little chest adjustment. 9.875

Hollingsworth (AUB): Very small step forward on the 1.5. A little off to the side with great distance. 9.875

Deguzman (UK): Great height and fluidity on the jaeger to overshoot combination. Stuck the dismount as well. 9.925

Stevens (AUB): Stuck the 1.5. Some soft knees. Slightly off to the side, but within the lines. 9.975

Luksik (UK): Bent arms on the catch of the Ray. Good bail. Hop back on the double layout dismount. 9.825

Gobourne (AUB): Just a small hop forward/to the side over the line on her 1.5. Great leg form. 9.875

Worley (UK): Great tkatchev. High pak. Hop forward on the FTDB dismount. 9.9

The exhibition for Auburn should have been in the lineup. A couple of other exhibitions to go.

After 2: Kentucky 98.925, Auburn 98.625

Auburn had some solid landings on vault in the last five. That would be a solid vault number with Lee back. Kentucky continued the momentum on to bars with some really strong routines to bring that score up. Kentucky is currently just under 198 pace which would be huge in trying to jump up in the rankings.

Rotation 3: Kentucky beam, Auburn floor

The commentators think that Kentucky beating Auburn by .3 would be enough to overtake Auburn in the SEC standings. That is not how it works.

Luksik (UK): Small check on the Onodi. Some feet on the loso series, but strong landing. Cat leap to switch half. The switch half was a little under. Looked like a small check on dance. Stuck the gainer pike dismount. 9.85

McLaughlin (AUB): Control on the back 1.5 to front layout to open. Around on the leaps. Almost around on the tour jete full. Very controlled double pike to end. 9.85

Procasky (UK): Tentative on the loso series, but no checks. It looks like she was attempting a ring position, but that was not close. Clean front aerial. Stuck the gainer pike dismount. 9.8

Brusch (AUB): Clean front tuck through to double tuck. Controlled the landing. The rotation on the three jump combo might have been a little bit off. Good amplitude though. Might have stepped out of bound on the landing of the double pike. 9.8 or not. It was very close so she might not have.

Bunn (UK): Strong on the bhs loso loso series. Kept moving through the switch to split jump. It looked like she might have been a little off on the switch. Small hop back on the dismount. 9.8

Groth (AUB): Stuck and stepped on the opening front double full. Great amplitude on the back 1.5 to front layout. Great control on the Rudi to end. 9.875

Patterson (UK): Clean full turn to start. Lifts up the front foot at the end of the loso series. Balance adjustment on the front aerial going into the split jump. Solid switch to switch. Hop back on the gainer pike dismount. 9.8

Hollingsworth (AUB): Great full out. Good control. Might have moved the front foot. Clean switch half to Popa. Held on to the landing of the front tuck through to double tuck. Moved the front foot back a little. 9.9

Worley (UK): Clean switch to switch side. Break at the hips on the front aerial. Brought it back on the loso series. Leg up check on the front tuck. Hop forward on the back 1.5 dismount. 9.675

Stevens (AUB): Solid landing on the front layout to Rudi. Around on the leaps. Might have been out of bounds on the lunge of the double tuck. Her heel also might have landed on the line. You couldn’t tell from that angle. 9.825

Magnelli (UK): Flexed feet on the bhs loso loso series. Solid landing though. Great switch to straddle quarter. Clean front aerial. Stuck the gainer pike dismount. This will allow Kentucky to drop the 9.675 from Worley. 9.95

Gobourne (AUB): Foot slid back on the opening double tuck. Strong finish on the leaps. Stutter step on the end of the front layout to front full. Controlled the double pike to end. 9.8

After 3: Kentucky 148.275, Auburn 147.875

Kentucky fell off 198 pace with some good, but not great beam routines. The team total potential is still high though. Auburn needed Gobourne to be her normal during the last routine to get a better floor score here. Auburn will need at least a 49.35 on beam if this score is to be a counter.

Rotation 4: Auburn beam, Kentucky floor

Hollingsworth (AUB): Strong loso series. Some bent elbows on the bhs. Clean switch half to split jump to beat jump. Hit the side aerial. Had to step and salute on the gainer full dismount. 9.825

Wilson (UK): Foot slid back on the opening double back. Controlled back 1.5 to front layout. 9.8

Hagle (AUB): Solid cat leap to side aerial to open. Front aerial had a foot adjustment before going into the Korbut. Solid wolf turn. Clean leaps. Stuck the back 1.5 dismount with a lean. Probably won’t get the acrobatic series here. 9.8

Procasky (UK): A little short of the ring position on the opening ring full. Clean landing on the combination pass. Hit the second ring in combination. Controlled the double back. 9.8

Brusch (AUB): Tentative in the front aerial to split jump. Tried to disguise the waiver. Solid loso series. Kept the switch to straddle quarter centered. The switch was short of split.. Stuck the gainer full dismount. 9.8

Patterson (UK): A little lack of control on the opening back 1.5 to front layout. Nice leap positions. Controlled the double tuck to end. 9.9

Groth (AUB): Very solid bhs loso bhs series. Fell on the switch half. Did a split jump to beat jump which won’t work for the dance series. She stuck the side aerial to back 1.5 dismount for the first time. Of course that is how that works. 9.3

Magnelli (UK): Clean Rudi to loso to open. clean leaps. A little under on the double pike and had to take a step forward. 9.775

Stevens (AUB): A little waiver on the loso series. Good swtich to stag. The Stevens was clean. Good wolf turn. Overall a bit tentative, but not any checks. Tries to hold the stick on the 1.5 on her toes and steps to salute. 9.85

Davis (UK): Clean opening pass and leaps. Very high a floaty back 1.5 to front layout. Big double tuck with good landing to end. 9.95

McLaughlin (AUB): Fall from her on the switch to bhs loso series. So this meet will be a 196 and a non counter. Solid recovery on the side aerial and leaps. Small slide forward on the gainer pike dismount. 9.275

Worley (UK): A little stutter on the landing of the full in. Great leaps. A little large of a step out of the back 1.5 to front layout. Strong landing on the double tuck to end. 9.95

FINAL: Kentucky 197.675, Auburn 196.450

Two of Auburn’s highest scorers on beam both had falls here which made this another away score that will not count towards its NQS. With a strong floor rotation Kentucky was able to drop a 197.125 from earlier in the season.

VT: Wilson, Stevens 9.975
UB: Deguzman 9.925
BB: Magnelli 9.95
FX: Davis, Worley 9.95
AA: Stevens 39.5
