In a weekend jam-packed with senior meets, you’ll be pleased to know that Missouri is only in its second-last home meet tonight. A nice normal conference dual! We’ve got a limited number of these left to enjoy this season. This meet could be close and/or exciting, with both teams finding postseason form after slow starts to the season. Missouri being at home also ought to be an equalizing factor, but the Tiger vault rotation often gets slaughtered at home, so we’ll see how it goes.
Alabama has the potential to make another NQS jump this week, possibly even pushing UCLA out of the No. 5 spot with a season high, while Missouri can pass Michigan State but is working against a Spartan double-meet weekend.
Hi guys, it’s Savanna here! I’m filling in for Rebecca tonight, she had a slight emergency, but she is OK! I’ll do my best to be as witty as her I promise!
Rotation 1: Missouri vault, Alabama bars
Lawrence: Yurchenko full, piked down at the hips, low chest.
Hudson: mount on low bar, Maloney with leg separation, Bail to handstand, fought to keep that handstand at 180, double tuck with a step back on the dismount. 9.775.
McCrary: Yurchenko full, good height and distance with a hop back. 9.800
German: mount on high bar, Ricna, which was beautiful. Struggle on the half pirouette, toe on to double layout with a college stick (tiniest of movement) 9.825.
Schreiber: Yurchenko full, hop back on the landing, flared it out at the end, landed on the directional lines. 9.850.
Waligora: mount on high bar, beautiful first handstand, straddled Jaeger to bail, leg separation. Might’ve been short on the last handstand, full twisting double layout with a small hop on the landing. 9.850.
Celestine: Yurchenko 1.5, good distance! Hop forward on the landing. 9.875
Adams: Replacing Blanco so she can rest. mount on low bar, Maloney to Pak salto with zero leg separation, giant full to double tuck with a step back on the landing. 9.850.
Moore: Yurchenko 1.5, step back on the landing. Didn’t have a ton of distance based on my angle, but form in the air was clean. 9.825.
Machado: mount on low bar, Maloney to Pak salto, Van Leeuwen to high bar, short on the final handstand, stick on the dismount. 9.900.
Davis: Yurchenko 1.5, step back and landed off to the side and cross-legged. 9.800.
Doggette: Mount on high bar, Tkatchev to immediate Pak salto, insane on the height and caught with straight arms. Double layout dismount, brings her feet together! Cleanest routine of the rotation for the Tide! 9.950.
Schaeffer (exh): Yurchenko full, hop back on the landing.
Bunagan (exh): mount on low bar, Maloney to Pak salto, slight leg separation, double layout, some leg separation in the air with a hop back on the landing.
After 1: Alabama 49.375, Missouri 49.150
Missouri’s vault landings weren’t exactly the cleanest, so they are in a little bit of a hole after Rotation 1. Alabama had a good rotation, even with resting Blanco, so heading into vault, the Crimson Tide will want to make sure they continue to dial in on those landings.
Rotation 2: Alabama vault, Missouri bars
Gladieux: Yurchenko full, big height and distance, hop back on the landing with a little flare at the end.
Celestine: mount on low bar, beautiful first handstands, Maloney to Pak salto, didn’t have a ton of power behind it? Van Leeuwen back to high bar, stalder to pike half dismount with a stick!
Doggette: Yurchenko 1.5, good distance, big step forward on the landing. 9.750.
Schreiber: mount on low bar, Maloney, good amplitude between the bars. Bail to handstand was clean and right on top of the bar, short on that last handstand, slight hop on the dismount.
Hudson: Yurchenko 1.5, not a ton of distance, bent knees in the air and landed a little deeper with a hop. Not stuck like the commentators said.
Sheremeta: beautiful handstands! Blind change to straddled Jaeger to Bail was beautiful, front 1.5 twist dismount (I love this about her!) with a hop off to the side.
Adams: Yurchenko full, deep knee bend on the landing, underrotated with a step forward. 9.675. Doggette’s 9.750 will now count.
Moore: mount on high bar, Tkatchev to immediate Bail, HUGE height on that Tkatchev! Full twisting double back, slight shuffle of the feet on the landing.
Paradise: Yurchenko 1.5, good height off the table, BIG hop forward.
Hu: mount on high bar, Church to Pak salto was beautiful, Van Leeuwen back up to the high bar, beautiful final handstand (and that pirouette!) double tuck with a small hop forward.
Olsen: Yurchenko double twist, she twisted so fast, I almost couldn’t tell. Bent knees in the air, some foot form in the air.
Burns: mount on high bar, blind change to straddled Jaeger to bail, some leg separations and form throughout. Double layout with a hop back. 9.875.
Bunagan (exh): Yurchenko full, hop forward, low chest on the landing.
Lawrence (exh): mount on low bar, Maloney to Pak salto, kept legs clean throughout. Lacked the toe point in the handstands, blind change to double front dismount. Solid exhibition for Lawrence!
After 2: Alabama 98.550, Missouri 98.500
Missouri made up some ground with a solid bars rotation! Neither team has really been able to consistently stick landings throughout the first half of this meet, so this could still go either team’s way!
Also live stats have stopped working booooo. I’ll fill in where I can and hopefully they get their life together soon. Missouri needs the best beam rotation of the season here.
Rotation 3: Missouri beam, Alabama floor
McCrary: Front toss to beat jump series, clean. BHS LOSO, had it but second guessed herself and had a balance break. Leap series appeared to be at 180. Gainer pike with a hop on the landing. 9.650.
Waligora: First pass is front layout to front double full, missed the landing and fell. Not a great way to start, hopefully they bounce back. Missed the leap series, but second pass was much stronger than the first. 9.075.
Lawrence: beautiful toe point on the mount. Some bent knees on her series throughout. Beautiful flexibility, front aerial is clean! Round off 1.5, kept her balance on the landing, bent knees in the air. 9.850.
Doggette: Full-in, leg separation, controlled lunge back. Originally supposed to be Olsen. Beautiful height on her leap, maybe not quite finished the full leap. Round off 1.5 to front layout, leg separation on the twist. Good reset routine. 9.875.
Davis: BHS LOSO, little off but she saved it. Front toss, had to lift the leg up for a balance break. Beat jump to sheep jump, smallest wobble. Switch leap to BHS to gainer full with a hop back. 9.600.
Adams: double pike, big height in the air, controlled step back. Fun wolf turns! Back 1.5 to front layout with a fall, legs buckled and she didn’t get enough of a punch in the air. The Crimson Tide will count a fall. 9.150.
Sheremeta: Missouri could capitalize here with Bama now counting a fall. BHS LOSO spot on. That is the best leap series with the Shushunova and I am obsessed. Tucked Gainer full off the end with a lean back but no feet movement.
Gladieux: Half in half out, slight feet movement on the landing. Leaps had the perfect split position and huge height! Front layout to Rudi to split jump, close to stepping out but she knew where she was. Good second reset, every tenth is going to count at this point. 9.875.
Hu: the toe point on the mount in the air, WOW! Front aerial to front aerial series was perfection. Leap series was connected beautifully. BHS to gainer full with a stick. The crowd wants a 10, I’m not sure if they will throw it but I would love to be wrong. 9.950.
Hudson: front layout to front double full, clean with controlled step. I love watching everyone do the choreography behind her. 2.5 twist second pass was beautiful in the air! Double tuck, clean in the air, quick step back but it was a hit. 9.900.
Schreiber: She’s set up for a big score here. BHS LOSO, can do a triple series, but opts for only two skills. Switch half with a balance break – leg lift. Gainer full stick. Neither team has really been able to capitalize on the other’s mistakes. 9.750, will definitely count.
Blanco: First event of the night for the all-arounder! Double pike, slid the front foot back ever so slightly. Second pass is double tuck, smaller slide of the front foot that time. Leap series had good position in the air. Final pass is front full to front layout, danced out of it. 9.950.
Poddig (exh): BHS LOSO, small wobble on the landing. Fun choreography throughout! Cat leap to side aerial, fell on the landing. Tried to attack it with a low chest and couldn’t stay on. Stick on the dismount.
Machado (exh): Double pike first pass, solid in the air. Leap series lacked a little amplitude. Back 1.5 to front layout, controlled on the landing. Betting Ashley Johnston is wishing that was in the lineup right about now.
After 3: Missouri 147.600, Alabama 147.300
Missouri takes a three-tenth lead after Alabama has to count a fall! The beam wasn’t the kindest to the Tigers, but they stayed on. A clean floor rotation should give them a solid win, but you can never count out Alabama beam.
Also still no live stats and Missouri hasn’t posted a ton of scores. Fun, right? We’re having fun?!
Rotation 4: Alabama beam, Missouri floor
Burgess: BHS LOSO series, always so solid! Side aerial is clean, she’s always so reliable as your lead off! Gainer pike STUCK. So, this is going to be a fun ending. 9.875.
Schreiber: Punch Rudi to layout two feet to split jump with a ton of height! Front full to front layout to stag jump, right on the money. There’s about to be a ton of energy in this building!
Rybicki: Coming off a fun judging split last time out. BHS LOSO, wobbled just a little bit on the leap series. Balance check on the full turn. Round off 1.5, far leaning, dug her heels in so she didn’t move. That shouldn’t be a 10 from one judge but you never know anymore. 9.725.
Kratzer: Double tuck, big slide back on the landing. Lacked toe point on the leap series, but good position in the air. Back 1.5 to front layout, step forward. Double pike, lacked amplitude but a clean landing. 9.875.
Waligora: BHS LOSO, some soft knees in the air. Side aerial, cleaner in the air. Split jump to tucked full jump, slight wobble after the second jump. RO 1.5, leaned forward to keep the stick. 9.800.
McCrary: Front layout to Rudi, solid on the landing. Could’ve used more split in the leap series, but good amplitude. Final pass is a double pike, really good landing! That ending is fun! The Tigers can feel the upset brewing. 9.900.
Gladieux: BHS LO to two feet, good on the landing. Front aerial to beat jump, clean on the connection. Something looked weird on the leap series, so I’m not sure what it was, but the double twist dismount was clean with a hop back. 9.875.
Sheremeta: Front double full with a large step forward, leap series had so much height and a solid position, Rudi to LOSO final pass, good landing!
Hudson: 9.800 wins the all-around for her here. Front aerial to BHS LOSO, arms were off and she wobbled just a little. Switch leap to beat jump, clean position in the air. 1.5 twist dismount, stuck with a high chest. Should win the AA. 9.900.
Moore: These last two routines could be big here. Double layout, underrotated with a low chest. Beautiful height on that leap series throughout. Front tuck through to double tuck, underrotated again with a small hop forward. 9.875.
Blanco: That mount looks like fun but also makes my back hurt. Front aerial is spot on, beautiful full turn. BHS LOSO LOSO series, clean form. Round off 1.5 twist, stuck! Almost as good as her 10.0 from last week! And they throw it, 10.000! Those announcers have begging for it.
Celestine: Encore performance since Missouri’s already broke 197. Tucked full-in, stuck cold. Small stumble on the second pass, but keeps it on her feet. Final pass is a double tuck, her toe was ON the OOB line (flashback to regionals, anyone?), but it’s a hit and will give Missouri the win! 9.900.
Adams (exh): BEAUTIFUL wolf turns! Front aerial is nice and controlled. BHS LOSO solid. Beautiful position in the air on those leaps. BHS 1.5 dismount with a hop forward.
Schaffer (exh): Rudi to LOSO first pass, clean on the leap series in the air, I missed the final pass (thanks internet) but her team celebrated, so it obviously was good.
FINAL: Missouri 197.075, Alabama 196.750
Missouri pulls the upset at home! Blanco finishes off her rest night with a casual 10.0 on beam and the Tide have a lot to be proud of with Hudson winning the all-around. Missouri needed a good home number to help its NQS and it appears to have gotten the momentum it needs heading into SECs in two weeks.
VT: Shallon Olsen (Alabama) – 9.900
UB: Makarri Doggete (Alabama) – 9.950
BB: Luisa Blanco (Alabama) – 10.000
FX: Luisa Blanco (Alabama) – 9.950
AA: Lilly Hudson (Alabama) – 39.450
