BREAKING: Corrinne Wright Tarver Named Fisk Head Coach

Brown Girls Do Gymnastics announced on Instagram that Corrinne Wright Tarver would serve as the inaugural head coach of Fisk University’s new gymnastics program.

Tarver, a Georgia alumna, became the first Black gymnast to win an NCAA all-around title in 1989. She also has a national floor title and two team titles with Georgia, in 1987 and 1989, to her name. Tarver was also named a U.S. National Team member in the 1985-1986 season.

Brown Girls Do Gymnastics assisted Fisk in the coaching search. The first HBCU to sponsor gymnastics, Fisk plans to begin competing in the 2023 season. The school will also host the annual Brown Girls Do Gymnastics Conference this summer.
