The Dismount: Week 8

While last week program records dominated the conversation, it was perfect 10s that took over the headlines this week (with program records still occurring, don’t be fooled). Many teams put up big numbers to drop early season low marks while others missed opportunities to rise in the rankings. Catch up on how all your favorite teams performed with results, recaps and superlatives below.

History in Action

Maddie Diab, floor, 10.000

The Cyclones’ floor queen earned her first career 10, just the fifth perfect mark in program history and only the second scored in Hilton Coliseum.

Best Retro Look

Texas Woman’s Alumni Night Leos

You know by now that we’re suckers for a good throwback leo, but the Pioneers took retro to a whole new level by actually wearing leos from 1997. Like the red velvet material, they crushed it.

Most Nabs

Sunisa Lee, bars

For the second week in a row, the Auburn freshman competed a skill never before seen in the NCAA—this time a Nabieva (layed-out Tkatchev) on bars. In addition to a 9.975 for her efforts, Lee snagged the No. 1 spot on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10.

Commentary Win

Caleb Frank, Central Michigan vs. Kent State

We’re not sure if it’s the power of the bow tie (Kevin Copp rocks them often and is also high on our list of top commentators), but shout out to Caleb Frank for providing insightful, knowledgeable and interesting solo commentary for this MAC matchup and looking positively dapper while doing so.
