Having ranked our top 10 leos for all the big four conference teams, as well as some other popular schools (let us know if we haven’t ranked a team you want to see!), it’s time to look at each individual editor’s top 15 leotards of all time—limited to one leo per school. Next up is our EAGL and ECAC editor Mary Emma! Have opinions about your favorite leotards of all time? We want to see your top 15! Submit your rankings to us via email at [email protected] and include your name, ranking, links to images and a description for each. Your list just might be featured on the site! Remember, limit one leo per team.
No. 1: Illinois: If you know me at all, it will come as no surprise that this Illinois leo is my favorite of all time. The ombre reminds me of an orange creamsicle, and this leo proves that you can make orange leos look good.
No. 2: Temple: I rarely love pink leos, but this one is an exception. It’s pink without being too over the top.
No. 3: Michigan State: You are going to notice an ombre theme on this list, including this beautiful green one. I’ve loved this leo ever since I saw it in person at Big Tens last year.
No. 4: Pittsburgh: I know a lot of people are on the fence about Pitt’s new colors, but I love them. I love the contrast between the blue and the gold, as well as the ombre design used here.
No. 5: Nebraska: I haven’t loved a lot of Nebraska leos lately, but this one is so pretty. I love the shade of red used and of course the ombre sleeves.
No. 6: Kentucky: I love the blue to white ombre look, as well as the rhinestone pattern on both the front and the back.
No. 7: Michigan: Yellow is another color that teams tend to shy away from, but the yellow ombre sleeves in this Michigan leo are done so well and not something we see very often.
No. 8: Florida: A lot of Florida leos tend to look similar, but that is not the case for this one. The light blue color is such a breath of fresh air for the Gators.
No. 9: UCLA: I love this modern take on a classic throwback design.
No. 10: Centenary: This is the only leo in my top 15 to not feature ombre somewhere, but I love it because of the shade of red used, the strappy back and the fleur-de-lis pattern that is beautiful and not too over the top.
No. 11: Arizona State: My favorite part of this leo is the colors used on the sleeves. It makes me think of a sunset.
No. 12: Oregon State: It’s a stock design, but it has to be one of my favorite GK stock designs there is. I love how the orange ribbons pop off the black.
No. 13: West Virginia: Like UCLA’s above, this is another great modern take on a classic throwback design.
No. 14: UW-La Crosse: Division III teams have really been stepping up the leo game lately, which I love to see. This leo from La Crosse is absolutely beautiful.
No. 15: Auburn: Never would have thought two pink leos would make it into my top 15, but here we are. I love the fact that it’s a pink leo, but it incorporates the Auburn navy blue color as well.
I do also have to give honorable mentions to Temple’s feather leo and Michigan’s Flip for Chip leo, both of which would have probably made this top 15 list if it wasn’t limited to one leo per team.
