Oklahoma Fall Training Well Underway

It’s not all about the early morning conditioning in the fall for Oklahoma. The Sooners are also spending time in the gym, working on new skills as well as getting back old ones.

Senior Keeley Kmieciak is attempting to add a second layout step-out to the end of her back handspring layout step-out series on beam.  The video also shows Kmieciak training a double full beam dismount after three years of performing a double back tuck to close out her routine. There is also a short clip of her Yurchenko full on vault.

Kmieciak made the beam and bars finals at the 2015 national championships. The Naperville, Ill., native competed beam every meet last season for the Sooners, never scoring below a 9.7. She was also a regular on vault and bars, only scoring below a 9.85 twice, once on vault (9.8) and once on bars (9.825). In all, Kmieciak had nine scores of 9.9 or higher across her three events.

Sophomore Ali Jackson has also been hard at work in the gym. Known for her power and big scores on vault and floor, Jackson has been training bars during the preseason. She performed a double layout off the apparatus her freshman year in the two lineup appearances she made, but is potentially planning on reverting back to her J.O. dismount of a half-in half-out for 2016.
