BREAKING: Simpson College to Add Women’s, Men’s Gymnastics for 2023 Season

Simpson College, a Division III school in Indianola, Iowa, announced it will be adding both women’s and men’s gymnastics programs for the 2022-23 school year on Wednesday.

The college worked with USA Gymnastics to create the new programs. It is the second DIII school to announce both men’s and women’s programs this summer, following Greenville University last month.

“Gymnastics is the perfect fit for Simpson,” director of athletics Marty Bell said. “The addition of these programs supports our commitment to the holistic development of our students, offering them the opportunity for both high academic achievement and competitive excellence. These programs will also support enrollment growth initiatives for the college. The rich recruitment pool of student-athletes involved in gymnastics will provide the opportunity to become competitive in a short period of time.”

Gymnastics will become Simpson’s 11th men’s varsity sport and 10th for women.

This article will be updated as more information becomes available.

  1. At least Simpson College is inclusive to all students, unlike Greenville University.
Sounds like USG is building up D3 schools in the Mid West.
Greenville in Illinois and now Simpson in Iowa.

Interesting to see more gymnastics program open, even if they are division 3.
