Ashleigh Gnat, who spent the last season as assistant coach at Penn State, was added to the coaching staff in the same position at LSU Thursday morning. The move comes just over 2 weeks after longtime head coach D-D Breaux announced her retirement after 44 years at the helm, leaving an open paid coaching position.
Gnat, who was a standout competitor for the Tigers from 2014-2017, served as the student assistant coach in 2018 and 2019. She was the 2017 AAI award winner and helped LSU to second place finishes at NCAAs in two of her four years competing. She also scored nine perfect 10s on vault and floor and won the 2017 national floor title.
Gnat will join Associate Head Coach Bob Moore and Volunteer Assistant Ashleigh Clare-Kearney on Jay Clark’s first staff as the sole leader of the program.
