The Coronavirus COVID-19 has finally taken a hold on NCAA gymnastics. With so many cancellations, postponements and alterations at schools and competitions across the country, we wanted to create a single place to look for updates on your favorite teams.

Please keep in mind that while it may be a bummer for you as a fan to have to change your plans due to these circumstances, these universities and organizations are doing what is right for their communities to keep them safe. While you might not be as susceptible to the virus, there’s a good chance you know and love someone who is. It’s better to be overly cautious in a time like this than risk unnecessary exposure.

We’d also like to note that as a media organization, it is our job to continue bringing you the news. As of now, we still plan to attend all competitions we previously had on our coverage schedule, as long as they continue allowing media.

The NCAA has stated that all NCAA championship events will be conducted without spectators for the near future. The announcement was made specifically in relation to the men’s basketball tournament. We don’t specifically know how it will affect gymnastics, although NCAA championship events include regionals and nationals. UPDATE: Per the championships website, nationals will be closed to the public.

Cornell has stated that USAG Nationals will not be held, though it is unclear if the championships could move elsewhere.

The Pac-12 tweeted that spectators would be limited at all conference events. UPDATE: The Pac-12 tweeted on Thursday that all conference events would be suspended.

The SEC also announced that all conference events, including championships, would run without spectators through March 30. UPDATE: The SEC tweeted on Thursday that all conference events on SEC campuses and championships are suspended until March 30.

  1. Maryland is 2 weeks of spring break the online classes until 4/10. The athletics aspect was unclear from the email. They talk about social distancing so maybe attendance is ok if people don’t sit together?

  2. Michigan State is competing with Kent State and Eastern Michigan this weekend d/to not being able to go to Cal.
Limit of 4 spectators per athlete competing.

      1. I plan on calling the ticket office tomorrow to find out if the meet is happening at all.

Per the main university site, all “university-sponsored events” are cancelled through early April. Unclear if this affects athletics. Athletic site and gymnastics social media had nothing as of 5pm EDT today.

  3. Seattle Pacific is on online classes until spring break there is no word on what will happen next quarter

  4. Eastern Michigan/Kent State meet and MAC Championships now canceled. All sports teams at EMU seasons are over.

    1. Do you have a link for the MAC championships cancellation? I’ve only seen news of the basketball tournaments being cancelled. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time, though.
