Top Storylines

Upheaval at Arkansas as Wieber Steps Down, Roberson Enters Portal

Following another successful season at Arkansas, sophomore Joscelyn Roberson shocked the gymnastics world with the news of her entering the transfer portal. The day after Roberson’s announcement, Arkansas head coach Jordyn Wieber announced she would be stepping down. Minutes later, it was announced that her husband and Arkansas assistant coach Chris Brooks is taking over the program. The Razorbacks finished the 2026 season ranked seventh in the nation. Of note, Roberson has since visited SEC foe Florida. 

Roberts Named Auburn Head Coach, Staffs at Auburn and Georgia Transform

Georgia co-head coach Ryan Roberts was named the new head coach of Auburn, making way for Cécile Canqueteau-Landi to become the sole head coach of the program. Following the Roberts news, assistant head coaches and couple Marissa King and Oleksii Koltakov were removed from the roster, and former Georgia standout and Denver assistant coach Megan Haught was added to the staff. At Auburn, Roberts hired Illinois assistant coach Aja Sims-Fletcher as associate head coach, and Adam Duncan and Sophia Davila (née Groth) as assistants. 

Jones, Wright Tapped to Nebraska Head Coach, Associate Head Coach Positions

Michigan State associate head coach Nicole Jones was named the new head coach of Nebraska, replacing Heather Brink. Spartan assistant coach Devin Wright was later announced as Nebraska’s new associate head coach. Following Michigan State’s unprecedented success in the last few years, Jones and Wright now inherit a Nebraska team that has not ranked in the top 20 since the abbreviated 2020 season. 

Transfer & Eligibility Updates

Incoming Transfers
  • Former Georgia gymnast Ariel Posen is transferring to LSU. Posen medically retired after her freshman season at Georgia in 2023.
  • California sophomores Ondine Achampong and Mya Wiley are transferring to Stanford. Achampong missed the 2026 season due to injury, but Wiley was a mainstay in the vault and bars lineups. 
  • Utah State junior Nyla Morabito is transferring to Arkansas. Morabito has excelled on both vault and floor, though floor is where she’s truly shone in college.
  • Former Iowa State gymnast Noelle Adams is transferring to Arkansas. Adams was a junior in 2026, midway through which the Cyclones’ season ended and the program was cut. 
  • Adams’s Iowa State teammate, Frederique Sgarbossa, a sophomore in 2026, is transferring to Minnesota. Classmate Aubree Guinee is doing the same.
  • Oregon State senior Jennifer McMillan is transferring to Missouri for her fifth year of eligibility. 
  • Arkansas freshman Addison Bare is transferring to Maryland. She did not compete in 2026.
  • Rhode Island senior Liz Shrewsbury will use her remaining year of eligibility at Bridgeport for the 2027 season. 
  • Brockport sophomore Olivia Melo is transferring to Rhode Island. 
  • Whitewater freshman Carly Musschoot is transferring to Cortland. She did not compete in 2026.
Outgoing Transfers
  • Minnesota junior Jordyn Lyden is transferring. Lyden was a major contributor to the Gophers’ 2026 Final Four run, winning the B1G bars title and earning All-America honors on floor at nationals. She has visited LSU and Oklahoma thus far. 
  • Michigan senior Paige Thaxton is transferring. A former five-star recruit, her Michigan career was plagued by injuries such that she did not compete during her freshman and senior years. 
  • Kent State sophomore Jersey Bingman entered the transfer portal. Bingman was a vault and floor standout for the Golden Flashes. 
  • Kentucky sophomore Anna Flynn Cashion is transferring. She anchored the Wildcats’ vault lineup in 2026 and earned a 9.950 twice. Cashion’s freshman teammate Ellie Topchishvili also entered the portal. She did not compete in 2026.
  • SEMO freshman Amaia McKinnie entered the transfer portal, as did classmate Genesis Bosque. Neither gymnast competed in 2026. 
  • Whitewater freshman Kaleigh Summers entered the transfer portal. Summers did not compete in her freshman year. 
  • Nebraska sophomore Lauren Hollifield entered the transfer portal, as did classmate Reese Baker and freshman teammate Ahnna Kalmes. None of those gymnasts competed in 2026.
  • N.C. State junior Raina Gandhi entered the transfer portal. She has yet to compete for the Wolfpack. 
  • Ohio State sophomore Karleigh Reutzel is transferring. She competed vault and bars in 2025, but missed the 2026 season.
  • West Chester freshman Sophie Salvatori entered the transfer portal. She did not compete in 2026. 
Fifth-Year Returns
  • Emma Schrady will return to Washington for her fifth year. She did not compete in 2025 or 2026. 

Coaching & Staff News

  • Minnesota assistant coach and former standout gymnast Mya Hooten is leaving the Gophers’ staff after just one season to pursue a coaching opportunity at her club gym, Classic Gymnastics.
  • Arizona assistant coaches Kylie Kratchwell and Shelby Martinez left the staff and were replaced by Julie Ballard Clark and Emma Strom. Ballard Clark is a former club coach, and Strom just completed her senior season at Arizona.
  • Steve Arkell was added to Utah’s coaching roster as an assistant coach. Arkell is currently a club coach in Texas and will serve as the Utes’ bars coach.
  • Missouri assistant coach Lacey Rubin is leaving the coaching staff after three seasons.
  • Pittsburgh assistant coach Lexi Funk was promoted to associate head coach.
  • Arizona State assistant coach James Williams was removed from the coaching roster. He joined the Sun Devils’ staff in 2023. 
  • Oshkosh assistant coach Eboni Jackson was removed from the coaching roster after one season on staff.
  • California assistant coach and former standout gymnast Mya Lauzon is leaving the program. 
  • Eastern Michigan assistant coach and former standout gymnast Sophia Rios is leaving the coaching staff.
  • Pittsburgh assistant coach Amanda Wellick left the coaching staff after coaching at the school since 2021. 
  • Ursinus assistant coach Natalie Stauch left the coaching staff. 2025 was her lone season with the program.
  • Western Michigan assistant coach Don Houlton was removed from the coaching roster. He joined the Broncos’ staff in 2022.

  • Alabama junior Chloe LaCoursiere is training a front toss to scale and a ring leap on beam.
  • Temple sophomore Emma Reathaford is training a Tkatchev on bars.
  • Michigan freshman Gabrielle Gauger is training a Ray to bail on bars.
Rehab Progress
  • Kentucky freshman Isabella Edralin medically retired. She did not compete in 2026.
  • Southern Utah junior Alyssa Fernandez medically retired. She did not compete in 2026 after a productive freshman and sophomore season.
