Florida’s lineups will look different from the outset tonight after sophomore Ly Bui was lost to injury at Auburn last week. While the meet ultimately produced a season-high score for the Gators, it also included a counted fall—something Florida will be eager to avoid as it looks to establish momentum early despite the setback. It will be worth watching whether other lineups are adjusted as well, including the possibility of Selena Harris-Miranda breaking into the floor rotation. Elsewhere, Riley McCusker competed only on bars on the road but delivered a standout 9.975; even with a limited workload, she continues to anchor the lineup and assert herself as a leader in her fifth year.
Arkansas, meanwhile, has improved its team score each week and returns to SEC competition after posting a season high at home against SEMO—also the sixth-highest score in program history. Transfer Morgan Price has been a catalyst for that rise, and even with Joscelyn Roberson competing fewer events, she has made a major impact, hitting 9.950 on beam in all three meets this season. Roberson will be a strong contender for the beam title tonight, and if Arkansas maintains its upward trajectory, this meet could be as tight as Florida’s last home contest, which came down to the final routines against Alabama.
The meet will be streamed on ESPN2, and scores can be found here.
Rotation 1: Florida VT, Arkansas UB
K. DiCello (UF) VT: New spot for her in the lineup, a lot of interesting order notes tonight you’ll see…very small hop forward on Y1.5, her best landing of the season for sure. 9.900
Roberson (Arkansas) UB: Nice first handstand, aggressive, Maloney to Pak legs together, form is looking great. Last handstand is hit, maybe the tiniest movement in place on dismount but awesome routine to open. 9.775
G. Disidore (UF) VT: Less controlled landing on the Y1.5 more reminiscent of the last home meet, lunge forward to the right and has to steady herself. 9.825, we’re starting…
Klein (Arkansas) UB: Tkatchev caught slightly off on the bail but caught as well, DLO goes really far from the bars, legs come apart but sticks. 9.825
Draser (UF) VT: Leg form in the air on second flip, smallest hop forward on Y1.5, getting the landings back on track now. 9.875
Smith (Arkansas) UB: Maloney to bail legs together, DLO very close to the bar and a hop back. 9.825
Frazier (UF) VT: Double full, leg form in the air, small hop back with chest down, but so cool to see the difficulty.
Swaney (Arkansas) UB: Crisp lines throughout, Pak a little whippy with leg separation, missed the last handstand, squatty stick but got it. 9.775
Ferris (UF) VT: Takes a left step back on Y1.5, not the stick from last week. 9.800
Cucci (Arkansas) UB: Pak good leg form, last handstand a little short, squats on DLO and holds it for just a moment but has to hop forward. 9.775
Harris-Miranda (UF) VT: No stick this week either, has to hop ever so slightly to the side. 9.900
M. Price (Arkansas) UB: Form is a cut above the rest on all releases, FTDLO (something different!) stuck. 9.900
AFTER ONE: Florida 49.375, Arkansas 49.100
Florida is getting better on vault landings-wise each week; no Bui to open didn’t disrupt the lineup, and DiCello did her job in that position. Arkansas set the tone to keep things close to start, with a few sticks as punctuation. I’ll be interested to see if the Hogs keep that energy on vault.
Rotation 2: Arkansas VT, Florida UB
Frazier (UF) UB: Aggressive first handstand, Maloney legs together, Pak a little over, hits last handstand into stuck DLO! 9.900
Weaver (Arkansas) VT: Yfull had good form in the air, just a small hop back. 9.850
Pilgrim (UF) UB: Big Tkatchev, handstand into Pak looked great, slight leg separation on the release, full-in tiny tiny step back to the right. 9.850
Smith (Arkansas) VT: Yfull looked stuck but has to step forward after about a second, chest down. 9.750
McCusker (UF) UB: Maloney to Pak perfect form, VL legs together, aggressive last handstand, double back and has to step back. 9.875
Cucci (Arkansas) VT: Overcooks the Y1.5 and has to step forward to the right big. 9.825 feels excessive, but similar to Disidore’s with a similarly big step forward.
DiCello (UF) UB: Piked Tkatchev to Pak fine, legs stay together on VL, last handstand a little short, full-in stuck. 9.925
Klein (Arkansas) VT: Step forward on Y1.5, not as big as Cucci’s but there. 9.875
Blakely (UF) UB: Piked Tkatchev great toe point, leg separation on Pak, back up to the high bar was fine, stuck double front half dismount with chest up, beautiful to end. 9.950 sets up SHM.
Williams (Arkansas) VT: Form great in the air on Y1.5 but hop forward. 9.875
Harris-Miranda (UF) UB: First handstand leaves no doubt, toepoint on Tkatchev, hits last handstand and stuck DLO. Let’s see. 9.950 as well gets boos as usual!
M. Price (Arkansas) VT: Y1.5 small hop forward, similar to Williams’s, Arkansas really picking things up with these vaults at the end of the rotation. 9.925
AFTER TWO: Florida 98.975, Arkansas 98.450
Really impressed by Arkansas’s 10.000 starts to conclude the lineup, super clean in the air and controlled landings. Florida picked up quite the steam to widen the gap, with contagious sticks and overall polish showing the comfort of having several meets under their belt. Blakely’s in particular felt like a breakthrough and highlight.
Rotation 3: Florida BB, Arkansas FX
Arana (UF) BB: From anchoring two weeks ago at home to leading off tonight! It just got so quiet for her series and that worked out, easy BHS LOSO. Wow, it’s crazy how quiet it feels in here right now. Switch to switch half fluid and connected, stuck gainer full off the side. 9.850
Cucci (Arkansas) FX: DLO ever so slight front foot movement but overall controlled. Great oversplit on leaps. Great front tuck through to double back. 9.825
Blakely (UF) BB: Wolf turns secure and get the crowd going. Front aerial to BHS slight pause in between but should keep connection. Switch to beat jump is extended, stuck gainer full off the side, 2/2. 9.950
M. Price (Arkansas) FX: Double pike hop forward. Sticky by Tyler the Creator feels like the new “this is in every routine” song. Front lay to front full, good extension on leaps. Overcooked back 2.5 and dances out, I believe out of bounds. Looking at social media looks like a fall actually, and the time it’s taking to score her is suggestive of that. 9.075
Frazier (UF) BB: Front aerial to BHS was fine, a bobble on her ring jump. Stuck 1.5 off the beam. 9.850
Smith (Arkansas) FX: Front lay stepout to double back, not the highest but chest up to land in place, straddle leaps are overextended. Double pike a little shaky but stays in bounds. I thought I’d seen every possible way to do a “phone” routine but that’s a new one! 9.825
Harris-Miranda (UF) BB: “Star” by Meg is such perfect beam music for SHM! Triple series is bang on, straddle quarter has to lean back but stays on. Holds stick on back 1.5. 9.900
Williams (Arkansas) FX: Full-in chest down but stuck it, the “la la” in the routine is clever. I think I saw shade about this choreo in the preseason online, but I love it, she works it well. Back 1.5 to front full, a little shuffle. 9.825, you get a 9.825, you get a 9.825…
DiCello (UF) BB: Great extension on leaps. BHS LOSO no hesitation. 4/4 on sticks, not a lot to take IMO. 9.950!
F. Price (Arkansas) FX: DLO to her knees, bummer for her and sis. Leaps are 180 overextended as always. Back 1.5 to front lay, front lay was a little low but got it around. 9.075
McCusker (UF) BB: “Espresso” for Riley’s beam music feels right too. Wolf turn it looked like her right hand went down to touch the beam, front aerial was good, BHS LOSO a check but stays on. Leaps usual execution. Has to step back on her gainer full. 9.700
Roberson (Arkansas) FX: Was recording this one…secure on both passes and she worked her dance a lot, a nice cap off after counting a fall. 9.850
AFTER THREE: Florida 148.475, Arkansas 146.850
Wheels came off for Arkansas from two of its top floor performers, but some bright spots with Cucci showing strong leadoff potential for years to come. Riley back in Florida’s beam lineup didn’t go quite as she’d hoped, but an incredible rest of the rotation should give plenty of confidence going into the next stretch of the season.
Rotation 4: Arkansas BB, Florida FX
Booker (UF) FX: Full-in stuck for a moment but has to slightly step out, straddle leaps are overextended again, front tuck through to double back and superhero flip to end, 9.875 two weeks in a row, do we get higher this week… 9.825, first pass did it.
Gustitus (Arkansas) BB: Love her BHS LOSO, super airy and great execution. Switch leaps are secure. Sticks Gainer pike with her chest up. Super confident leadoff. 9.850
Ferris (UF) FX: DLO chest is down but secure landing. Back 1.5 to front full, works that choreo. 9.875
Klein (Arkansas) BB: LOSO LOSO, leaps are secure. Back 1.5 has to step forward. She and Gustitus had similar energy, good to see after the shaky floor rotation. 9.825
Clark (UF) FX: One of the best DLOs in college gym. Front tuck through to double back a little less secure on the landing tonight. 9.850
Cucci (Arkansas) BB: BHS LOSO no movement, front aerial same, great extension on her leaps. Back 1.5 stuck with her chest up. 9.850
Frazier (UF) FX: DLO and overextended leaps the usual, front tuck through to double back gets some of the loudest cheers of the night in here. 9.950
Weaver (Arkansas) BB: BHS LOSO, has to come off on I believe a leap, wow loud applause for her getting back up, another thing I feel like we don’t see often in the O Dome for a visiting team. Back 1.5 stuck to end. 9.225
Blakely (UF) FX: Front double tuck to stag, having herself a night. Hits leaps, ack 1.5 to front full. 9.975!
Price (Arkansas) BB: BHS LOSO with a check but stays on, amidst cheers for eMjae’s 9.950, front aerial solid, leaps extended and hits 180, overall working it out. back full small hop forward. 9.725
Harris-Miranda (UF) FX: She’s baaaaack. Same “Dreaming of You” motif to start, full-in looked like had to slide a bit. Straddle to Shushnova. Back 1.5 to front full a little happy out of that too, she’s amazing but felt like some nerves to get out in the first routine back of the year. 9.925
Roberson (Arkansas) BB: Hits double tuck combo, feels like she just walks around the beam. Side aerial to LOSO, step back on punch front full off the beam. Not quite another 9.950 but really nice. 9.825
FINAL: Florida 198.050, Arkansas 195.975
The Gators join the 198 club, and in spite of the O’Dome’s reputation for scoring, I feel comfortable saying that it felt about the closest to a legitimate 198 that we’ve seen thus far. The Gators are feeling complete without it seeming like they’re at their peak, which is a great place to be on the penultimate day of January. On the other side of the coin, Arkansas got a season low, but with flukey performances from the Prices on floor, that’s something the Razorbacks will feel like they can put behind them, especially with Roberson hopefully adding the leg events back soon.
VT: Price 9.925
UB: Blakely & Harris-Miranda 9.950
BB: Blakely & DiCello 9.950
FX: Blakely 9.975
AA: Harris-Miranda 39.675
