Brockport has continued to prove week after week why they are the top team in the NCGA-East. The Golden Eagles are looking as strong as ever, not only proving to be the best team in the NCGA-East, they have also proven to be the top team in the state of New York, defeating Ithaca, Utica, Cortland, LIU, and Cornell in the Empire State Classic this past weekend. As a Division III team, defeating two Division I programs is no easy feat, but the Golden Eagles know how to win, regardless of what division their competitors are. This will be a fun meet for the Eagles where they can hope to post another huge away score to compete with the West in rankings since, as viewers have seen, Ithaca home meets are not afraid to throw out some big numbers.
Ithaca, on the other hand, has shown a little less dominance this season, being beaten by Cortland all three times the teams have competed against each other. Ithaca has put out tremendous performances at home, but has yet to show it can hit at away meets. Ithaca does have the advantage of hosting regionals this year, but will need to show it can excel on the road as nationals will be uncharted territory. Additionally, the Bombers are finishing out their annual three-meet week with a meet on Sunday, Wednesday, and Sunday again, so the Bombers may switch some people in and out, or just depend on their key contributors having top tier stamina.
Rotation 1: Ithaca VT Brockport UB
No Babineauxx for the Bombers today as she has been sick.
Gallivan (ITH): Layout with a step back. The least piked I’ve seen all season. 9.375
Kay (BP): Blind to tucked jeager to shoot over. Sticks the double lay to finish. Stunning. What a start. 9.600
Miller (ITH): Handspring front with just a hop. Lands chest up with minimal squat. Her best vault all season. 9.625
Eramo (BP): Blind to huge jeager. Perfect bail handstand. Blind full to a double tuck with a hop. Solid. Little bit of feet throughout. 9.525
Pellegrino (ITH): Tusk layout with a hop. A little crooked, but good shape. 9.400
Bushey (BP): Huge geinger to shoot over, picture perfect. Ends with a giant full to stuck double tuck. 9.700
Freyman (ITH): Dynamic handspring front. Lands with her chest way up and just a step forward. Even bigger than Miller’s. 9.500
Delvecchio (BP): Switches to reverses and misses her jeager. Finishes to a clean double tuck. 8.725
Murray (ITH): Crashed in warm-up and looked like her head hit, but sticks her vault. Stands it up just barely. 9.500
Swick (BP): Blind to jeager to shootover. So dynamic. Blind full right on top of the bar to a double tuck with just a step. 9.875 for a new record yet again.
Steed (ITH): Yurchenko layout half. Lands a little peg-legged, but takes just a step. Great debut. 9.625
Sargent (BP): Blind change and misses her jeager. Eagles counting a fall. Finishes with a double lay. Lets go a little early and hops forward. 8.900
After 1: Ithaca 47.650 Brockport 47.600
Bombers with a half tenth lead.
Rotation 2: Ithaca UB Brockport VT
Paultre (BP): Huge yurchenko arabian with a great chest up landing. Steps forward, but what a start. 9.525
Miller (ITH): Half pirouette to a shootover, a little lose on the catch. Clear hip on the low bar and arches over. Toe front, locks the knees and sits it down. Not what the Bombers wanted to start with. 7.950
Weaver (BP): Big yurchenko layout almost to a stick. Best layout we have seen today by a mile. 9.450
Steed (ITH): Clear hip to toe up. Breaks rhythm and stops after the kip. Continues with a hop half to bail. A little lack of body tension on the catch, but finishes with a strong giant to double tuck. 8.925
Kay (BP): Yurchenko tuck full to just a hop back. So dynamic. WOW. Eagles wasting no time. 9.625
Cohen (ITH): Clear hip to stunning tckatchev, but arches over on the next clear. I see a bar situation incoming… Off again on her next handstand. Bombs counting two falls. Bail with a big split and body position struggles. Ends with a double tuck. Team energy is way down. Team is silent. 8.225
Galioto (BP): Another Yurchenko layout with great amplitude and a hop back. Interesting lineup order. You would think they would put the twisting vaults later. 9.375
Cotteleer (ITH): Misses the Maloney right off the bat. Doesn’t get the fingers over. Gets up and swings to a bail. Finishes to her stalder to double tuck and sticks. Another fall. 8.700
Sargent (BP): Yurchenko layout full. Great in the air, but a bit of a dropped chest on the landing. In love with her lines. 9.675
Bailey (ITH): Clear hip to gienger to bail. Crowd goes crazy. Ends with a stuck double. Getting that energy back up. Just what the bombers needed: a hit routine. 9.525
Eramo (BP): Another big yurchenko layout and sticks it COLD. I’m speechless. Straight out a DI rotation. 9.750
Goodwin (ITH): Big gienger to start and catches right on the fingertips. Beautiful. Bail handstand with a tiny leg split. Ends with a blind full to double tuck. Almost falls forward on the double tuck, but keeps it to her feet. 9.200
After 2: Ithaca 92.225 Brockport 95.625
Brockport with a lead of over 3 points. The Eagles keep proving they are THE vault rotation to watch with hit after hit and TWO layout fulls highlighted by Earmo’s stick. This next rotation will a test to see if the Bomber can have a short memory and move forward in the competition without falling apart any further.
Rotation 3: Ithaca BB Brockport FX
Freyman (ITH): Full turn with a check. Split jump with back leg a bit down to a tuck 3/4. Front tuck and steps forward to a back tuck. Will not get her series. Ends with a rudi with a step back. Will want to see faster series connection from the Bombers today. 9.5 start
Galioto (BP): Big double tuck to open to a controlled lunge. Huge team means big energy fro Brockport. Back 1.5 to front layout with a little bit of knees and steps out ever so slightly. Jump series to finish. Good start. 9.450
Chesshire (ITH): Front toss to scale with a tiny lean. Beat jump to split jump to a split 3/4 and is off. Front toss to backahndspriong. A little slow but not too bad. Finish with a gainer full off the side. 9.025
Czarcinski (BP): Front layout to front full with a controlled step. Great. Rudi and lands with her chest up. Finishes with a split full to tuck 3/2. 9.550
Arias (ITH): Cohen replaced. Front toss to backahndspring, a little slow, but nice. Gppd full turn and falls on the jump series. Bombers counting another fall. 8.975
Swick (BP): Falls on her 1.5 to front layout to open. Closes with a big double tuck and steps forward with her chest down a tad. Ends with a wolf full to split full. Eagles will want to drop. 8.750
I think this is the quietest gymnastics meet I have ever been to.
Goodwin (ITH): Front tuck mount with just a step. Great handspring lay. Split jump to split 3/4 and stays on. Ends with a gainer pike off the end. 9.675
Sooy (BP): Front double full. Not all the way rotated and scared me with the knees a bit. Rudi to layout step out. Gasp from the crowd. I love that pass. So fun to watch on floor. I love how smiley she always is. 9.725
Pecoraro (BP): Front lay to front full to a controlled lunge. Ends with a powerful roundoff to double tuck. Lands chest up and just a step back. 9.650
Kobusky (ITH): Her normal roundoff layout step out. Great. Split jump to sheep jump. Ends with a gainer front full almost to a stick. Holds and shows off that finishing position. Breaks the beam record with a 9.875 and her family SCREAMS. 9.875
Paultre (BP): Big double back. Highest I’ve seen today. Switch half to popa. Back 1.5 to front lay. Big smiles for her. Beautiful switch ring. This was my favorite routine today. Always expect big things from a Brockport floor anchor. 9.725
After 3: Ithaca 139.325 Brockport 143.725
Brockport expands its lead to almost four points and should have smooth sailing from here on out.
Rotation 4: Ithaca FX Brockport BB
Arias (ITH): Back 1.5 to front lay and lands both feet out. Great performer. Ends with a rudi. Chest a bit low, but finishes strong. 9.300
Kay (BP): Switch side with no wobbles. Flick lay and lands so solid. Beat jump to split 3/4. Haven’t seen a wobble yet. Closes with a gainer pike off the end and sticks. So impressed. 9.875
Pellegrino (ITH): Solid rudi to open. Chest is way up. Front full to front lay and a big college finish. Switch side to popa 3/2. Best routine for her this season. 9.600
Czarcinski (BP): Hnadsprinfg layout with no wobbles. Switch side and is right on. Side arial and almost wobbles, but holds into it. Front gainer full off the end to a stick. Another hit for the Eagles. 9.500
Chesshire (ITH): Double pike a steps out of bounds. Good rotation though. Switch half to wolf 3/2. Back 1.5 to front half and barely pulls it around. Looks like she’s hurting a bit. 9.400
Freyman (ITH): Great front double full to front tuck with a controlled step forward. Switch ring to tour jete half. Solid. Rudi to a big stag jump to close. Best routine for her all season. 9.700
Sooy (BP): Same big smile. Huge straddle jump. Great handspring layout, soft back leg. Ends with a backhandspring to 1.5 with a hop forward. So solid. 9.600
Foster (ITH): Front layout to front full. Nice hollow shape throughout both. Jumps all the way around. Ends with a dynamic double tuck with a step back. Best double tuck seen today. 9.575
Hockman (BP): Handspring layout step out with a small lean. Split jump with a perfect 180 degree split. Front arial with a small lean, but holds onto it. Dismount with a front full. Great. 9.550
Murray (ITH): Front full to front lay. So controlled. Jumps all the way rotated and shows off the lunge. Ends with a double pike to a controlled lunge. I thought this was her best routine all year despite the score. 9.750
Pecoraro (BP): Switch leap to switch half. Split a little short. Back handspring to back tuck and lands a little low. 9.700
FINAL: Brockport 192.050 Ithaca 187.550
VT: Eramo 9.750
UB: Swick 9.875
BB: Kobusky and Kay 9.875
