Newsworthy Items
- Oklahoma received its championship rings from the 2023 season and celebrated the 10th anniversary of its first championship team from 2014.
- Florida’s Morgan Hurd was featured as a top NIL earner amongst female student-athletes.
- Washington announced it has hired former Huskie gymnast Brenna Brooks as an assistant coach.
- The findings for the independent review of the Utah gymnastics program and head coach Tom Farden were released this week. Though the review found no behavior that violated Safe Sport or NCAA regulations, the Utah Department of Athletics implemented five protocols intended to monitor Farden and the program moving forward.
Training Updates
- New Hampshire senior Sierra Bauman was highlighted training a tucked Yurchenko one and a half to a mat on the team’s Instagram story.
- Oklahoma 5th year Ragan Smith is working a Yurchenko one and a half on vault. Junior Danae Fletcher is working a back one-and-a-half twist to front full on floor, a new combination pass for her.
- Bridgeport freshman Nova Staruk showed off a rare one-and-a-half pirouette connected to a straddle Jaeger on bars.
- Nicole Wojcik, Lindenwood senior, is training a new bar routine featuring a toe hand Gienger to overshoot connection. Looks like the upperclassman is staking her claim to a spot in the lineup this year with stellar handstands and crisp form, a combination that is bound to score big.
- West Virginia started mandatory practices this week and a lot of upgrades are in the works. Junior Sierra Muns is working a tucked full-in on floor. Sophomore Emma Wehry is working a Pak salto on bars after only competing vault and beam for the Mountaineers last season. Classmate Carlee Nelson is working a complex combination pass consisting of a cat leap to front aerial to back handspring, back handspring. Fifth year Abbie Pierson is working a back handspring connected to a layout to two feet series on beam. Freshman Amber Lowe is working a switch leg side aerial series on beam as well.
