Austyn Fobes Named Kent State Head Coach

The Kent State Director of Athletics Randale L. Richmond announced this morning that Austyn Fobes has been hired to replace longtime head coach Brice Biggin.

Biggin had served as head coach at Kent State for 35 years and previously announced his retirement in January, effective at the conclusion of the season.

Fobes has been an assistant coach for the Golden Flashes since 2024. Prior to joining the program, she gained experience coaching at Bowling Green and for club teams. Fobes has a competitive background herself, competing for New Hampshire from 2010-13.

In her time at Kent State, Fobes has helped lead the Golden Flashes to top-three conference finishes every year. In a video, Richmond cited Fobes’ preparedness and impact on the program so far as benefits for the program as it enters a new chapter.
