Florida is heavily favored to advance, but the race for the second spot in this session should be a close one. California and Penn State both have the potential to move on to Saturday’s regional final. While California holds the edge in NQS and season average, Penn State owns the higher season high—a mark it hit in late February. The Nittany Lions will need to rediscover that form after a quieter showing at Big Ten Championships to keep pace.
This session is a must-watch on uneven bars. Florida, California, and Penn State all rank in the top 11 nationally, making it likely the individual qualifier emerges from this group. Tonya Paulsson will draw the most attention, especially if Florida advances as expected, but Penn State’s Dani Latronica and Ava Cash are strong contenders as well.
On floor, Arizona’s Emma Strom stands out as one of the nation’s top performers and will be in the mix for an individual qualifying spot if she is able to compete.
The meet will be streamed on ESPN+, live scores can be found on Virtius.

AFTER ONE: Florida 49.600, California 49.200, Penn State 49.150, Arizona State 49.100
Florida might be looking back at that rotation and wishing it could have saved some of those sticks for a later round. That was a stellar vault rotation for the gators and it has created a cushion over the rest of the field. California did what it needed to on bars, but many gymnastics fans will know what could have been if Paulsson stuck that dismount. Penn State and Arizona State both put up rotations that will keep the meet close.

Florida followed up a stellar vault rotation with a stellar bars rotation that included a 10 from Blakely. The Gators are well out ahead at the halfway point. The battle behind Florida is still close with California having a narrow lead going into the leg events. A gap has started to form between California and both Arizona State and Penn State. California had a great floor rotation and Penn State was on a good event to keep close, but some missed casts created the gap that will be hard to overcome in the last rotation. With one event left to go Penn State and Arizona State will look to put together solid rotations and will hope for mistakes from the leaders.
