LIVE BLOG: No. 50 Sacramento State at No. 38 Washington

No. 50 Sacramento State travels to Seattle this week to face the No. 38 Washington Huskies. Washington will be competing at home and is going to bounce back from a loss on the road, while the Sacramento State Hornets arrive with momentum after coming off a win away from home.

The Huskies will be depending on Kristin Lin to deliver high scores across all four events. Floor has been Washington’s strongest event, highlighted by Caitlyn McWilliams, who has a hit in every single meet thus far. Bars, however, has proven to be more challenging this season with Washington currently ranked 41st in the country. Deiah Moody has provided stability in the bar lineup, having yet to miss a routine, while Lilly Tubbs has shown to be capable of scoring near-perfect routines on the event.

The Hornets enter this meet with a win behind them, but continue to search for consistency in their lineups. Sarah Lutrel guides this team as a dependable all-around competitor. Alongside her is Kara Houghton, who contributes in bars, beam, and floor, consistently providing strong, high-scoring routines. Vault seems to be where Sacramento State struggles the most. They will be looking towards Lutrel who has carried the high scores in the lineup throughout the season. Despite being the underdogs, the Hornets have the ability to deliver impressive routines when they hit.

The meet will be streamed on B1G+, and scores can be found on Virtius. Not a B1G+ subscriber? Sign up today for the monthly pass with the code COLLEGEGYM3 for just $10.99/month (regularly $12.99/month)!

AFTER ONE: Washington 49.125, Sacramento State 48.900

Not loving the no sound, very close shots on the routines, or the fact that they are not fully capturing Sacramento State’s routines. Despite that, this meet is starting out great! Washington comes out of vault with an impressive 49.125 and the Hornets follow close behind with a solid bars rotation! Both teams head to their more challenging events so we will see if they are able to carry this momentum to rotation two!

I have sound now!!

Deiah Moody and Lilly Tubbs were the highlights of the Huskies bar rotation with matching 9.900’s! Sacramento State scored a 48.450 on vault with Lutrel having their high score of a 9.800. Despite their lower start values, the Hornets are going to be happy with those landings. We are half way through this meet!

The Huskies bring it home (at home) on Senior night! Although impressive on all events, they stood out on vault with their highest score of the night despite it being where they lack 10.0 start values. Sacramento State also gives us an impressive meet with no falls throughout the entire competition! Both teams showed us confidence and hard work they’ve put into their gymnastics! A great finale to the regular season for these teams.
