The road to NCAA nationals isn’t just about the teams—individual gymnasts are also vying for a chance to compete on the biggest stage. However, the qualification process for individuals is notoriously complicated, so we’re breaking it all down in real-time.
Throughout regionals weekend, we’ll update this live blog with the latest standings for individual qualifiers after each semifinal session and the regional final. We’ll track event leaders, potential tiebreaker scenarios, and how team advancement impacts which individuals move on.
A quick refresher on how individuals qualify:
-
The top all-arounder and top event specialist on each apparatus from non-advancing teams earn a spot at nationals.
-
Tiebreakers go first to the average of all four judges’ scores, then to the head judge’s score, and finally to NQS if needed.
-
All information below is unofficial until confirmed by the NCAA and/or regional organizers.

With today’s regionals semifinals, the individual nationals qualifiers picture will start to become clearer. After each semifinal, we’ll note where things stand on each event and in the all-around, and after each second semifinal, we’ll start to piece together various scenarios, depending on which regional finals teams ultimately advance to Fort Worth.
Pennsylvania Regional Semifinal 1
Gabi Stephen leads the way in the all-around, as well as on vault with a perfect 10. If the Spartans stay home, it’s looking likely that she’ll advance in some capacity.
Floor is wide open here, especially if Kentucky advances. Outside of Creslyn Brose’s 9.950, the highest score so far is a three-way 9.900 tie among Spartans.
There is also a lot of room on beam, which is Tory Vetter’s best chance to move on.
Utah Regional Semifinal 1
Assuming UCLA advances to nationals, vault is up for grabs in session II, with the highest non-Bruin score a many-way tie at a 9.875.
Maggie Slife is looking strong in the all-around spot at a 39.500. She’s also in the mix in a big tie on bars with a 9.900.
If Minnesota misses, Mya Hooten is in a good position on floor with a 9.925.
Pennsylvania Regional Semifinal 2
Lots of tie breakers at this regional! The current projections are as follows:
If Michigan State, does not advance as a team, Gabi Stephen will qualify in the AA spot. If MSU qualifies as a team, but LSU does not, then it would be Aleah Finnegan. If both MSU and LSU advance, Joscelyn Roberson is the AA qualifier.
The vault qualifier is Michigan’s Sophia Diaz regardless of which teams advance.
On bars Arkansas’s Maddie Jones wins the tie break over Michigan’s Carly Bauman, so if Arkansas does not advance as a team the spot will go to Jones. Bauman will qualify if Arkansas advances.
After more tie breakers, the beam qualifier will be one of Aleah Finnegan from LSU, Isabella Magnelli from Kentucky, or Maddie Komoroski from Maryland in that order depending on the qualifying teams and whether Aleah qualifies for the AA.
Finally, on floor Creslyn Brose will advance if Kentucky does not qualify as a team. If they do, the spot goes to Arkansas’s Mati Waligora. If both Kentucky and Arkansas advance, Aleah Finnegan will get the floor spot.
In summary, the qualifiers could be:
MSU+Kentucky | MSU+LSU | MSU+Arkansas | Kentucky+LSU | Kentucky+Arkansas | LSU+Arkansas | |

Utah Regional Semifinal 2
Over in Utah, we had more ties to break, some of which needed to go all the way to the third tie breaker of NQS!
Avery Neff took the top AA spot across both sessions and will qualify if Utah does not advance, followed by Jordan Chiles. If both Utah and UCLA advance, Madison Ulrich of Denver will qualify in the AA.
On vault, the qualifier will be one of Jordan Chiles, Brooklyn Moors, Rosie Casali from Denver or Zoe Johnson from Utah. Chiles qualifies in the case of Minnesota and Denver both advancing as teams since Neff will get the AA spot. Otherwise, the spot goes to Casali if Denver does not advance as a team. Johnson or Moors will go if their respective team does not and Denver qualifies as a team instead.
On bars, Grace McCallum’s 10 guarantees her a spot at nationals on bars if Utah fails to qualify. Assuming Utah advances, Denver’s Rylie Mundell would get the spot. If both Utah and Denver advance, Ava Stewart of Minnesota would be the bars qualifier.
Similar to vault, beam would also go to Chiles in the case of both Minnesota and Denver advancing. Otherwise, the beam spot will go to BYU’s Brynlee Andersen if UCLA advances as a team or Emma Malabuyo if they do not.
For floor once again, Chiles will qualify if both Minesota and Denver advance. We are guaranteed to get Chiles on at least three events at nationals. Grace McCallum is the next highest qualifier and will advance if Utah does not as a team. Brooklyn Moors will take the spot if UCLA does not advance and Chiles gets the AA spot. Finally, Mya Hooten will qualify if both UCLA and Utah advance.

Friday, April 4
The semifinal action continues today! As we did yesterday, we’ll provide updates on the potential individual nationals qualifiers picture and propose scenarios based on which regional finals move on.
Alabama Regional Semifinal 1
Jojo Valahovic has put herself in a good position on beam: the Tar Heel has the best score by tie-break outside of Cal. Assuming the Bears advance, she should be in the mix, depending on what happens in Session II.
Corinne Bunagan leads the way on vault, with the only 9.900 of the session on the event. This event is the most wide-open heading into the evening session.
The Crimson Tide also dominated on floor; if Alabama doesn’t make it out of the final, one of Lilly Hudson and Gabby Gladiuex are most likely to get the spot, depending on whether one of them takes the all-around spot.
The all-around is led by Madelyn Williams; assuming Cal advances and Alabama does not, Gabby Gladieux and Lilly Hudson will enter a tie break.
Washington Regional Semifinal 1
With the GymDogs not advancing, several are in good individual positions, including Ady Wahl on vault, Holly Snyder on bars, and Anaya Turner and Ja’Free Scott on beam, assuming Missouri moves on to nationals. Lily Smith stands alone atop the floor standings, and is in good position to advance depending on what happens in Session II.
Washington’s Mary McDonough currently is in the advancing position if Missouri moves on in the all-around spot; if the Tigers don’t advance, that will go to Amari Celestine, depending on the evening session today.
Alabama Regional Semifinal 2
The headline from this session is absolutely the seemingly serious and heartbreaking injury to Chloe Negrete on floor. She was set to be the likely beam individual qualifier to add insult to (literal) injury. No, none of us are okay, either.
Jojo Valajovic is next up behind Negrete, and will advance if Cal and Florida do.
If Oregon State stays home, Jade Carey will get the all-around spot; otherwise it’s Leanne Wong in every scenario other than the Gators and Beavers both moving on, in which case Madelyn Williams gets the spot.
If Alabama and Florida advance, Kaya Forbes gets the vault spot. Otherwise it’s Selena Harris-Miranda, Corinne Bunagan, or Wong depending on advancing teams. On bars, the scenarios are split between Wong, Ryan Fuller, Madelyn Williams, and Alyssa Arana.
Mya Lauzon will advance on beam if Cal misses the big dance, while it will be Wong, Valahovic, or Harris-Miranda otherwise. Gabby Gladeiux gets the nod if the Crimson Tide stays home, while Taylor Clark and Lauzon fill out the other scenarios.

Washington Regional Semifinal 2
In our final set of semifinals, Faith Torrez took the top AA spot and will qualify if the Sooners do not advance as a team. Amari Celestine would be next up assuming Oklahoma advances, followed by Mary McDonough from Washington if both Oklahoma and Missouri make it to Fort Worth.
On vault, Ady Wahl is expected to be the individual qualifier, unless Arizona and Auburn are the two qualifying teams, in which case Amari Celestine would get the spot.
On bars, one of Jordan Bowers, Olivia Greaves, or Emma Spence would advance, in that order, if their respective teams do not.
For beam, Helen Hu’s unanimous perfect 10 from all four judges means she is a lock for nationals, even if Missouri does not advance as a team. Assuming Missouri moves on, Lily Pederson from Oklahoma would be next followed by Gabby McLaughlin from Auburn.
Finally on floor, the qualifier will be either Dani Sievers if Oklahoma does not advance as a team or Lily Smith from Georgia if Oklahoma moves on.

For PSU Regionals, I think that Finnegan would get the MSU+Kentucky beam spot as her 4 score total is higher than Komoroski.
Finnegan would go in the all-around, so her beam spot would be opened up for someone else.
