Towson enters today’s EAGL Championship aiming for a three-peat after winning the last two titles. The Tigers will face stiff competition from George Washington, which, despite holding a lower ranking, boasts the higher season high. Beyond the championship itself Towson is still in the regionals race. Towson controls its own destiny and needs a 195.875 to secure its place, while George Washington was eliminated with Rutgers performance last night.
While only two teams have postseason hopes on the line, expect a fierce competition as all teams look to close out their seasons on a high note. On vault, Delaney DeHaan enters as the top-ranked gymnast, with the title likely coming down to landings. The bars battle will be between Isabella Minervini, known for her consistency, and Lola Montevago, who owns the higher season high. Beam should be another tight race, with Deana Sheremeta and Clara Hong as the favorites. On floor, fan-favorite Kendall Whitman is the one to beat as she looks to claim the event title.

AFTER ONE: Towson 49.250, Temple 48.825, New Hampshire 48.450, LIU 48.450
Towson did exactly what it needed to do on floor with controlling landings. New Hamshire was able to avoid counting the major wobble from Aine Reade, but still had to count some lower scores. Temple is the closest to Towson after one rotation thanks the the huge Yurchenko one and a half from Kyrstin Johnson.
Rotation 2: Towson vault, George Washington bars, LIU beam New Hampshire floor

LIU came back after a couple of falls mid rotation to end with two strong beam routines. Towson stays on pace to qualify to regionals with that vaut performance. Bars has been a weakness for George Washington this season so to get out of this rotation with a 49 is a win. New Hampshire put together a big floor rotation thanks in part to the 9.9+ scores of the last two routines.
Rotation 3: New Hampshire vault, Temple bars, George Washington beam, LIU floor
Mullin (UNH): Feet and pike down on the Yfull. Hop back. 9.8
Sanchez (LIU): Feet and controlled landing on the front through to double tuck. Out of control on the jump combination, couldn’t tell the full intent there. 9.7
Dunne (TEM): Loose leg form on the toe hand to Maloney to pak. Shows off the handstand. Step back on the FTDT. 9.75

McMullen (GW): Bent elbows on the bhs loso. Big bend at the waist on the side aerial. Didn’t get the head release on the double stage out of the switch leap. Step back on the dismount. 9.4
Holmes (LIU): Big bounce on the double tuck. Good amplitude on the jump combo. Controlled the second pass. Big bounce on the front full to front layout. 9.775
AFTER THREE: New Hampshire 196.950, LIU 145.200, Towson 98.350, George Washington 97.650, Temple 97.525
George Washington was able to avoid counting a fall, but that was not the ideal beam rotation to keep the meet close. LIU and New Hampshire were able to go six for six, with LIU earning a season high. Temple was able to avoid counting a fall and was able to keep close to George Washington.

Claiborne (LIU): Not a good block on the table and lacked some height and distance on that Yfull. Hop on the landing. 9.75
Harper (TOW): Floaty Maloneu to pak. Lost her grip on the cast half. Stuck the dismount. Major error on the low bar that I missed most of. 9.3

AFTER FOUR: LIU 194.000, New Hampshire 146.950, George Washington 146.900, Towson 146,675, Temple 146.400
Well, that rotation changed things. That rough bars rotation for Towson turned this meet upside down. Not only does that hurt Towson’s chances of qualifying to regionals, but it also made three-peating a much more difficult task as George Washington and New Hampshire are now neck and neck heading into the last rotation.
