Four-Star Recruit Jayla Booker Switches Commitment to Florida

Jayla Booker, a four-star recruit in the class of 2025, announced on Tuesday that she has switched her commitment to Florida. Booker was previously committed to Rutgers.

Booker is a product of American Twisters Gymnastics, several hours down the Florida Turnpike from Gainesville in Coconut Creek. A three-star recruit in 2023, Booker made a massive jump of 20 points to now sit just eight away from being a five-star in 2024. Most recently, she won the all-around at the Tim Rand Invitational with a 38.825, placing first on all events except vault, where she took second.

Florida’s 2025 recruiting class now consists of two four-star recruits in Booker and Amelia Disidore, as well as two five-star recruits in Madelyn Dorbin and Jocelyn Sasson.

Rutgers has seen coaching uncertainty in the last year. This January, head coach Umme Salim-Beasley was placed on paid administrative leave following an external investigation concluding she “lost control” of the gymnastics program, as well as complaints of misconduct from former gymnasts.
