For the first time as a member of the Big Ten conference, No. 11 UCLA will make the cross-country trip to College Park, Maryland, for a dual against the No. 23 Terrapins.
Last weekend, UCLA had an impressive second meet in its 2025 season, scoring a 197.550 and winning the third session of the Collegiate Quad. Its first weekend out, the Bruins struggled on bars, but they improved their score by more than a point this time around with a 49.375, highlighted by a big 9.925 from Frida Esparza on the event. Most notably, UCLA for the past few seasons has struggled with consistency on beam, but it showed out on Saturday scoring a huge 49.475 on the event. Going into this weekend, UCLA will be looking to replicate and build on this momentum it looks to be having early in the season.
This will be the home opener for Maryland, who began its season last weekend at the Lone Star Challenge, coming in third out of five with a 195.400. The Terps’ lowest event total of the day came on vault, where they had to count three 9.6s. The team will be looking to improve this event. The highest event total of the night for Maryland came on floor with a 49.100, highlighted by a big 9.9 from Alexa Rothenbuescher.
This will definitely be a fun meet to watch, as UCLA makes its Big Ten debut. You can follow along for all the action on the B1G+ at 7:30 ET!

Natalie Martin ended this rotation with Maryland’s only 10.0 start value vault and gets a 9.875 for her Yurchenko 1.5. On bars for UCLA, the second ten of the season so far gets thrown, and deservedly so for Jordan Chiles! The Bruins built throughout this lineup ending with the 10 from Chiles, and another 9.9 for Frida Esparza in the five spot. The energy is already HIGH in the arena as we move into the second rotation!

The Terps can still come back strong for a nice team total ending on floor. As for UCLA, this must have been such a treat for everyone in this arena! With a pair of 9.95s from Brooklyn Moors and Jordan Chiles, this is such a special lineup, filled with such talented and unique artistry. FINAL: UCLA 197.550, Maryland 194.850
A great first time Big 10 match up for both these teams! Maryland came out strong in the first two rotations, only two tenths behind UCLA but struggled a bit on beam having to count several low scores in this rotation. The Terms picked it back up on floor, ending the night strong with a nice 48.975 after a hiccup mid way in the lineup. UCLA showed out scoring another big 197 score, highlighted by the second 10.0 of the year from Chiles on bars, a handful of 9.9 + scores across events and the best energy throughout the competition. Both teams undoubtedly had its strengths tonight, as well as some things to work on, but nonetheless, showed grit throughout tough lineup situations that will only help their confidence as they were able to recover and finish the meet strong on both ends!
