The Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) announced the results of its 2025 preseason poll Wednesday, with reigning champion Penn taking the top spot for the fourth year in a row after receiving six out of the eight available first-place votes from poll participants. Yale was No. 2 with West Chester rounding out the top three.
The GEC preseason poll is based on predictions from the eight head coaches in the conference. Teams are awarded points based on their placement in each coach’s predictions and ranked based on the total points awarded.
The full 2025 preseason poll is as follows:
- Penn (62 points, six first-place votes)
- Yale (56 points, two first-place votes)
- West Chester (39 points)
- Brown (38 points)
- Cornell (36 points)
- Bridgeport (24 points
- William & Mary (23 points)
- Southern Connecticut (10 points)
As indicated by the poll, Penn is poised to continue its success in 2025, retaining seven All-GEC gymnasts from last year, including the reigning GEC Gymnast of the Year, Skyelar Kerico. Additionally, the team adds a talented freshman class, which includes four former three-star gymnasts in Mimi Fletcher, Skylar Goodstadt, Manama Fofana, and Luci Toczydlowski.
Yale, the other team to receive first-place votes, is also set up for a strong year. Last season, the team achieved a program record 195.400 and a second-place finish at the GEC championship. The Bulldogs have two routines to replace on each event, but with a strong freshman class led by former four-star recruit Alexandra Forbes and rising seniors Oren Aviad and Claire Qu returning from injury, the team should have no problem rebuilding its lineups.
