The Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association has named Jennifer Sampson the inaugural Supervisor of Officials. The position, which was created after the conclusion of the 2024 season, will oversee the evaluation, review, and performance assessment of collegiate gymnastics judges and report directly to the WCGA Executive Director.
Sampson will collaborate closely with the National Collegiate Assigner and the NAWGJ Education Committee to enhance and inform the ongoing education of collegiate judges, ensuring consistent and fair officiating across the sport.
With over 30 years of experience in various capacities, including as a member of the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges (NAWGJ), State Chairman, and Judging Assignor, Sampson brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role. Her extensive background equips her to lead the launch of the S.C.O.R.E. Board (Standardize Consistency in Officiating of Routine Evaluation), a critical initiative aimed at standardizing and improving the officiating process.
According to the WCGA, “The SCORE Board serves as a committee of peers to evaluate, guide, educate, and develop the policies and procedures to be implemented and utilized in the SCOREing process. Members will assist the Supervisor in creating the infrastructure for capturing the data of the standardized process to evaluate, provide feedback and give officials a grade on their evaluations.”
