Top Storylines
Maddy Hargave officially announced as Clemson AC
The former North Carolina gymnast and previous assistant coach at NC State was appointed to Clemson in October 2022 as the director of operations. On Thursday, Head Coach Amy Smith announced that Hargrave would take over as assistant coach for the remainder of the 2023-24 season alongside her director of operations role.
Simpson Women’s Gymnastics to join the WIAC
Simpson Athletics announced this week that the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) will add Simpson College as an affiliate member in women’s gymnastics beginning with the 2024-25 academic year. Last year was the team’s inaugural season.

- The LSU docuseries “The Climb” has been nominated for an EMMY in the Sports Program – Post-Produced or Edited (Series) category. Creative Content Producer Giovanni Lamonte earned the nomination for his work on the series. A second series for the 2023-2024 season has been announced
- Arkansas graduate student Sirena Linton was featured in the Here Queer Home photography installation celebrating the university’s LGBTQIA+ community.
- In an interview with Self, 2020 Olympic champion Sunisa Lee discussed the chronic kidney condition that prompted her abrupt midseason retirement from Auburn gymnastics and raised questions about her long-term elite goals.
- Eastern Michigan gymnasts got their first look at the team’s new locker room, complete with each athlete’s stall filled with new clothing for the upcoming season.
- Bowling Green has a permanent home for competitions at the Stroh Center, announced alongside their schedule release for 2024.

- Alaska junior Marcela Bonifasi is training a side aerial to layout-stepout series on beam. Sophomore Ariana DeSouza is upgrading her combination pass to a Rudi plus front full.
- Iowa State junior Emma Ricks is working a back handspring, layout, layout stepout on beam. Sophomore Madelyn Manternach was seen training beam after missing her freshman season due to recovery from an Achilles tear.
- Florida freshman Danie Ferris is back in action after sitting out the 2023 level 10 season. Her signature Yurchenko one and a half looked better than ever in a recent training clip.
