There’s a lot that happens on the gymternet each week. So much so that it can be hard to keep track of it all. From training updates and COVID year announcements to recruiting rumors and coaching news, we don’t blame you for missing some important points here and there.

Brian Carey Named Oregon State Assistant Coach

Brian Carey, father and elite coach to Olympic floor champion Jade Carey, was added to Oregon State’s coaching staff as an assistant coach. Most recently, he coached the 2022 US World Championships team that claimed team gold.

  • Washington announced the addition of UC Davis transfer Emily Pires.
  • San Jose State fifth-year Jada Mazury was nominated by the university as the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year. 
  • NC State has added Emily Gaskins as an assistant coach. 
  • Sidnei Heubach was added to the inaugural Talladega gymnastics roster. She spent her freshman season with Greenville. 
  • Jamie Wysong was promoted to Southern Utah’s associate head coach. 
  • Alina Cartwright, formerly of Michigan State, was named Pittsburgh’s newest assistant coach. 
  • Arizona announced that Kylie Kratchwell has been promoted from volunteer to assistant coach.

  • Incoming Towson freshman Retoshia Halsell posted a video of a front pike through to full-in onto the resi. 
  • Annalise Newman-Achee, incoming California freshman and former five-star recruit, was training an Omelianchik on vault in an Instagram story.
  • Oklahoma senior Bell Johnson is working a full twisting double tuck dismount on bars.
  • Incoming San Jose State freshman Mia Nelson is training an Onodi to front toss on beam.
  • Illinois State’s Kaitlyn Donovan was seen training a Yurchenko one and a half on Instagram stories. 
  • Harriet Toth of UW-Eau Claire is training an upgraded full-twisting entry Yurchenko vault. 
  • Lindenwood rising sophomore Nya Kraus was seen training an upgraded full-twisting double tuck dismount on bars. 
  • Greenville incoming freshman Taylor Templin is getting ready for her first collegiate season by training a Gienger on bars and a new series on beam that features a punch front.
  • Rising BYU junior Sydney Benson is training a double layout on floor. 
  • Fifth-year Oklahoma transfer Soraya Hawthorne is training a front toss to pike jump and a front toss to one knee on beam. Incoming freshman Keira Wells is training a switch-leg side aerial on beam.
  • Incoming Ursinus freshman Erin Roe is working a triple series on beam and a double layout off bars.
  • Rising Ithaca junior Marlena Bailey is training a Gienger to bail connection on bars and a blind turn
  • A trio of Southern Utah freshmen are working on exciting upgrades. Alyssa Fernandez is training a side aerial to back handspring series on beam, Niya Randolph is working a front toss to back handspring back pike series, and Kendall McGuire is upgrading to a Yurchenko full on vault.
