Uncommitted Recruits to Watch in the Class of 2022

Commitments on signing day are one of the most exciting parts of the period. While all 5-star recruits have already found a home, five 4-star gymnasts are yet to announce their commitment. Keep a watchful eye on the Canadians—they are the real wildcards of this signing period.

O’Keri Katjivari

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Canadian will be of interest to any team looking for a strong beam and floor worker. Katjivari’s amplitude on her tumbling passes is impressive and so is her BHS + LOSO + LOSO on beam.

Best guess: Southern Utah or Iowa, though with COVID upheaval and travel restrictions, she may elect to stay home and go to university in Canada.

Arielle Ward

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ward is the whole package. She has an exceptionally high Yurchenko full, beautiful lines on bars and beam and solid tumbling on floor. She could step into almost any lineup in the country, wherever she may be needed.

Best guess: Utah State or Pittsburgh

Sydney Morris

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Videos: VT | UB | BB | FX

One of the most followed elite gymnasts of the past quad, Morris probably needs no introduction. Strong on all four events, she could become a college star on beam and floor. However, the last time she competed was in 2020, and it’s unclear whether she’s been active since. If she still is and is interested in college gymnastics, she could sign with any of the best teams in the country.

Best guess: Georgia

Soraya Shahani

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Any team in need of a pretty beamer and expressive floor worker should look into Shahani. The Canadian is an elegant performer who could also be of use on bars.

Best guess: Central Michigan

Rachael Riley

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Riley, a Canadian elite, performs a beautiful Yurchenko 1.5, which would be of interest even to Michigan and Oklahoma. Her form on the other events is also impressive. She could become a strong all arounder with some collegiate experience under her belt.

Best guess: Central Michigan, California, Rutgers

Keira Thornton

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Videos: VT | UB | BB | FX

The British elite is especially strong on beam and floor but has the potential to become a good all arounder in college. In particular, she’s training a Yurchenko 1.5, which a lot of teams would appreciate.

Best guess: Central Michigan, San Jose State

Kyra Cato

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

The Canadian is another gymnast with plenty of potential. Her amplitude is exquisite on all events and her Instagram shows glimpses of a pretty Yurchenko 1.5 and of a double layout in the making.

Best guess: San Jose State, Central Michigan, Arizona State

Tristin Green

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Videos: VT | UB | BB | FX

Green is a powerhouse floor worker, who also has a lot of potential on the other events. She’s a late bloomer, but her trajectory from now on is only up.

Best guess: Ball State, N.C. State, Southern Utah

Isabella Kowan

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Videos: VT | UB | BB | FX

The Canadian is an expressive floor worker, who also has some beautiful lines on beam. She’s training a front handspring pike half on vault, which would be a 10.0 start value in college.

Best guess: Rutgers, Iowa State

Leah Tindale

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Videos: VT | UB | BB | FX

Tindale is an excellent beam and floor worker. She performs a beautiful double Arabian to open her floor routine and a roundoff to layout to two feet on beam. Her “high risk high reward” routines are totally worth it.

Best guess: Central Michigan

Brantley Lucas

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Videos: VT | UB | BB | FX

Are you unafraid of big skills? Lucas is the gymnast for you! She opens her floor routine with a huge double Arabian and dismounts her bar set with a sky-high full-twisting double layout. We’d love to see these skills in college!

Best guess: North Carolina

Trinity Munsisoumang

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Videos: VT | UB | BB | FX

Munsisoumang is an excellent bar and beam worker. Her Ray on bars is as good as it gets. Her 2.5 twist on floor with which she opens her routine is also stunning.

Best guess: Central Michigan

Ella Jalandoon

CGN Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Videos: VT | UB | BB | FX

If any team is in need of an excellent beam worker, Jalandoon is the gymnast for the task. Her lines are beautiful, and the flow of her routine is captivating. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy a little moonwalk on the beam?

Best guess: Nebraska
