Nastia Liukin Cup Series: Week 4

This year’s Nastia Liukin Cup Series will be comprised of 12 meets, each of which will qualify one senior gymnast (aged 16 or older) and one junior (15 or younger) to the 12th Nastia Liukin Cup in Indianapolis on Feb. 26.

This week’s series included two meets: the WOGA Classic and the Buckeye Classic, which both qualified two seniors and two juniors to the NLC.

WOGA Classic

Winners (senior division): Kylie Coen (38.825)  and Morgan Price (38.375)

Winners (junior division): Piper Slocum (37.900) and Kamila Pawlak (37.775)

Kylie Coen, from the class of 2023, dominated the competition, impressing on all four events and especially on bars, where her routine included a difficult Ray to Pak salto and a full-in dismount. Morgan Price, also in the class of 2023, was the second senior qualifier. She impressed on vault with a huge Yurchenko full that scored a 9.900. She also showed off a unique wolf jump three-quarter on beam. The junior competition was not as strong as at other NLC qualifiers, but the field remained deep. Piper Slocum won the first qualification spot despite a weak beam routine, and Kamila Pawlak was the second qualifier, despite low scores on bars and beam.
