About Nastia

Rudnitskaya is a two-time Level 10 nationals qualifier (2018 and 2019). In 2018 she finished eighth on bars, scoring a career high of 9.500 (junior C). She had an outstanding 2019 Region 4 meet in 2019, winning gold medals in the all around, vault, bars and floor (tied). Rudnitskaya is the 2018 Wisconsin state all around champion.

What She Brings to Illinois State

Vault

  • Skill: Yurchenko full
  • Results: 2019 Region 4 champion
  • Margin of Improvement: Rudnitskaya could improve her vault’s height, as she pikes down on landing.
  • Impact on the Team: Illinois State’s lineup is still counting some vaults with a lower start value than 9.95. Head coach Bob Conkling will be delighted to add another Yurchenko full to the lineup.

Uneven Bars

  • Skills: piked Jaeger, Pak salto, double layout
  • Results: 2019 Region 4 champion
  • Margin of Improvement: Rudnitskaya will want to work on her handstands and on her laid out body position on her dismount.
  • Impact on the Team: Once Rudnitskaya gets to college, one of Illinois State’s top bar workers, Sofía Iribarren, will have just graduated. She has the potential to replace her scores nicely.

Balance Beam

  • Skills: BHS + back pike somersault, front toss, full turn, leap jump to straddle jump three quarters, switch leap to back tuck somersault, 1.5 twist dismount
  • Results: second place at the 2018 Wisconsin state meet
  • Margin of Improvement: Rudnitskaya incurs in small form deductions throughout her routine, but she will mostly need to work on her nerves, as her results are shaky. She is training a Liukin.
  • Impact on the Team: Illinois State showed potential on beam in 2020. Rudnitskaya will challenge for a lineup spot if she can improve her consistency in the next two years.

Floor Exercise

  • Skills: double pike, Rudi to layout stepout, 1.5 twist to front layout
  • Results: 2019 Region 4 co-champion
  • Margin of Improvement: Rudnitskaya’s form on her twisting elements could be a bit tighter, but her overall execution is very good.
  • Impact on the Team: Despite not performing the most difficult routine, Rudnitskaya should make the lineup easily thanks to her clean execution.
