Alaska Cuts Gymnastics Program, Effective After 2021 Season

The University of Alaska-Anchorage announced Wednesday the proposal to eliminate four athletic programs, including gymnastics, effective after the conclusion of the 2021 season. The news comes after a year of turmoil for the university system and state as a whole.

The Seawolves gymnastics program, which has had some of its best seasons in program history in recent years, has seen a number of changes take place already during the offseason, including head coach Tanya Ho’s departure for the open assistant coaching position at UC Davis, two transfers from top all arounders Isabelle Fox and Kenedi Brown, and the announcement of interim head coach Marie-Sophie Boggasch and transfer Silje Hildebrand from now-defunct Seattle Pacific.
