About Isabelle
Fox competed in the all around for three years at Alaska. She was the 2020 top-scoring Seawolf on vault (9.750), beam (9.900, tied with Sophia Hyderally) and floor (9.850). With three consecutive all around scores over 39.000, she became only the second gymnast in program history to crack 39 more than once in her career. In 2018, she became the first Seawoolf to be named MPSF Freshman of the Year.
What She Brings to Illinois State
Vault
- Skill: Yurchenko half
- Margin of Improvement: She has some small execution issues, but it is a strong vault. She anchored Alaska’s lineup.
- Impact on the Team: Illinois State could use some help on vault. Angelica Labat’s Yurchenko 1.5 scored as high as 9.925 in 2020, but the Redbirds also had to include a 9.8 start-value in their lineup. Fox’s 9.95 start will make a difference.
Uneven Bars
- Skills: blind full to bail to handstand, toe shoot, double layout dismount
- Margin of Improvement: She is always a bit late on her full pirouette, but otherwise her form is tight and her dismount is strong.
- Impact on the Team: Illinois State counted four strong 9.8+ bar routines in 2020 but lacked six solid sets. Fox will be a significant addition to the lineup.
Balance Beam
- Skills: BHS + BHS + LOSO, cat leap to switch leap half, front full dismount
- Margin of Improvement: Fox’s execution of her acrobatic series is flawless. Her switch leap half, however, does not reach a 180-degree split. She led off Alaska’s lineup.
- Impact on the Team: Illinois State failed to break into the 9.8s consistently on beam in 2020. Fox, with her 9.900 career high, will be a game changer.
Floor Exercise
- Skills: front handspring + front layout + Rudi, double pike
- Margin of Improvement: Fox’s form is excellent on floor. Her splits are especially exquisite. She anchored Alaska’s lineup.
- Impact on the Team: Illinois State’s Gabrielle Cooke scored as high as 9.900 on floor in 2020 but, except for a 9.800, all other scores failed to break into that range. Fox will make a difference here too.
